Wiki: Allegiance Introduction
Here is kind of what I want for this article
First, it needs to be a bit more of an in depth What is Allegiance. The What is Allegiance section is to get them interested, but not contribute to their ability to know how to play the game. This, on the other hand, is about providing them necessary knowledge to play the game. Components that should be covered include but not necessarily in this order:
Stress learning curveStress using the resources available (mention some but mostly refer them to the learning guide)Overview of a typical game in allegianceHow to win (conquest+destroy all enemy major bases, how to accomplish that:take map, kill miners, protect your miners, teamwork)Game progressionRole of the commander (don't do until you have been here awhile, need experience, etc)Role of pilotsRole of Miners and importance of economyMention constructorsWhat a techpath is and one or two sentences about each techpathMention factions (don't like any factions here at all, but say they for the most part have the same ships but have different advantages and unique properties. Must play them differently, etc)Basic definition of a core, mention DN is what is usually played onThings to start out with (scouting, nanning, probing) and where to get more info about themPoint them to the Communications and Terminals in the AcademyAgain mention the Newbie server and point them to the wiki page on that
This is where the learning guide takes over, specifically their next destinations are the rest of the crash course and them hopefully signing up for @cadet.
Now all of this should be kept very very brief. But the goal is to get them to the point so that they have some clue what should be going on when they join their first game.

QUOTE There is a link here for tech paths. Is this page going to become just an overview of the different techs, an indepth discussion of them (stepping out of boundaries?) or should the link be removed?[/quote]
An overview, with links to the Academy. See factions for an example.

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.
