Lemon, Use some of the time you spend posting studying the cadet material and you should not have any problems joining @cadet. There is no set class time. You read some material each week and incorporate it into your play for that week. It's really not as time constricting as you might think... and as a current cadet, I'll say it has helped me tremendously. Also, majority of squads seem to prefer cadet grads for members.

1. Click the links in my signature for Cadet information.

2. Get the hell off of the newbie server and play in the main games. Learn to play without SOL/OUTRAGEOUS settings. The Newbie server is intended for you to learn the BASICS of flight, navigation, ship loadouts.. and then move on.

I am seriously debating about lowering the max rank on the newbie servers...

I'm all for lowering the max rank on the newbie server to 4. It's a wreck in there and it starts way too many bad habits. We just need more support for newer players on the main server.

Plus game settings should be locked. Remove the need to have a commander. Just do DM's with development off. The only options that possibly should be unlocked are number of skill required to win, map selection (preferably only include maps with up to 3-4 sectors if possible, and maybe the number of teams.

Lemon, consider taking cadet, seriously, it's not that time-consuming.

And for that little extra motivation:CLICK ME

Newbie servers not set to play anything but DMs is useless imho. I understand the sentiment but lowering it may be more in order of solving the issue.

One of my squadmates and Batman ( iirc ) have proposed something similar; people to teach live ingame on the rookie server.

Hell you could use the same approach on that server for cadets too. Gentle persuasion ( no no no! Never do that again or Ill rip out your liver ), correcting real time, combining books and doing it in a less intimidating fashion? Stupid? Already rejected? * gulp * A good idea?

As for who would be stuckees the advisors each squad has assigned to cadet and ACS. The glory now would come with a price /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

hmm nice idea to assist the new starts on the newb server. I would be happy to go on there and answer questions and give advice etc.

Is it possible for me to join this server and stay in NOAT giving advice?

I have tried this, but didn't stay long in case I was pushing my luck... /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Also, sometimes it is best to actually fly and give advice, rally the team etc. is it acceptable for a CDT player to be on the newbie server and offer assistance?

Just throwing it out there, sometimes I enjoy helping fresh eager people, and it is rewarding to see them understand things and working togethor well /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

Nothing prevents anyone from taking newbs and going to an EMPTY non newbie server to train and play.

We discourage people from sitting in the lobby of the newbie servers. (People have purposely given wrong advice to mess with them).

If you are rank 7 or under you may play on the newbie servers. If you are an eight and over you will get an autoban. Exceptions are admins and @Allegs in their appropriate nick.
