The comm even ordered him out of there, he decided not to leave but to get cash. He was practically asking to be booted.

Ah so there was a good reason for a boot. I did not know that the map had a "middle" aleph that going into somehow hurt the team. I assume the middle is a fast way for the enemy to find and destroy your first base.

Striping off the shield and missiles is not something I thought of even though I remember reading about it in the crash course *grins sheepishly* Ill make sure I do that next time.

Are there other maps with the "middle" that I should worry about? In "Inside Out" is the middle sector name always the same?

Also, are all boots also bans? Or could this guy have just kicked me to the lobby without a ban?

In any case I am off to read the academy documentation on maps.

Is getting cash a bad thing? If it is I will make a point of avoiding it.
I am confused though since based on what I read in the crash course I thought that you were encouraged to pick up cash boxes and tech.

It's a 'bug' in the discription. The game says you are 'banned' from the team when you are booted. Actuall banning is handled by ASGS, in which case you'll be notified before Allegiance even launches. If you are booted from a team, you can always get back in by changing your callsign. You're allowed to have up to three (Your primary, and two 'hiders'). If you're a Cadet, or squadded, you can also get back in by simply removing your tag.

For example:
Factoid@RT <--- gets booted for base sitting while a miner dies
Can log back in as Factoid, or as any of his hiders.

Update: No Euler, getting cash isn't a bad thing per se, but if you do it instead of something the commander wanted you to do RIGHT NOW then it can warrant a boot. I don't know if you were following the chat, but prior to all of this there may have been warnings of "Stay out of the middle Aleph", or even specifically, "Euler, get out of the middle", followed by the waypoint order.

Again, BV will look into it, as any newbie boots are automatically flagged.

Well I am glad that getting the boot was for something I actually did wrong (knowingly or not).

At first I thought this whole thing was a case of spastic boot stick swinging.

Since that is obviously not the case are there any other commander hot button issues that can get you summarily tossed out on your hindquarters within the first 60-90 seconds of game time?

Read the chat and you will be safe. If the commander is demanding something and you aren't doing it... a ban might come your way.

it doesn't hurt the team. If the newb goes in there make him go back all game and probe it. Then boot him if he doesn't learn to probe. lol

euler, there are some main things you shouldn´t do. they are all contemplated in the newbie boot guidelines
(BlackViper @ Feb 24 2007 wrote:But I am also realistic that on a very RARE occasion it might become necessary. The newbie going to the hidden HTT, the SB hidden, the middle aleph, etc. where time is of the essence. But what I expect you to do is immediately after that game via a PM on the forums, to post a message to that player explaining why you did what you had to do. Or if they are in the lobby, explain it to them as soon as possible. Again I see a consistent pattern emerging, I will deal with it harshly. I have a thread going in the @Alleg forums for us to track it.
Classifiable up to Trolleomorphism.
