Never thought that being bad at situational awareness is a valid boot-reason. Nerdy boots!

*He* ruined his credibility entirely. Noone pushed him to it, and in fact people tried to point out what he was getting into.
*He* ruined his own reputation. Not by commanding poorly, but by dropping into the forums here and absolutely trashing his credibility all by himself.
He chose to be completely disrespectful and atagonistic.
People tried at first to give him polite advice and mention how he was getting close to earning himself a lasting bad reputation by behaving the way he was. He not only blatantly ignored such advice, he started telling even the helpful people how stupid and wrong they were, and began claiming that he was an absolutely incredible genius who knew more than anyone here.
Keep in mind that with things like the forum ignore feature and in-game mute, once you've trashed your reputation, it's going to be very hard to repair it because noone is paying attention.

OK...This happened to me the other day. Comm ordered a base camped, we were using GS, I jumped on a turret. (only 1 manned on my GS) . We got in the sector (2GS), headed towards the base._SRM_PsycHosis wrote:QUOTE (_SRM_PsycHosis @ May 26 2007, 09:55 PM) I boot because I think you can learn. Theres a reason we cant boot noobies, they dont KNOW better. Once your a vet, your going to learn to play this damn game, or theres someone in lobby who can do a better job on my team.
How hard do we have to get the point across, IF YOUR NOT GOING TO LEARN, DONT FLY FOR US, OR EXPECT TO GET BOOTED FOR BEING AN IDIOT!!!
Couple fig's launched, hung by the base. Some SF's were also in the sector, I'd catch a half second flash now and then for targeting...But Out of range.
We were almost in range of the base, and my GS Stops(bout 2k out, little more maybe). I'm using buttons to target, but bascally I'd target nearest enemy, then cycle thru enemies, then target nearest again. Constantly swiveling around, checking six and back to base looking for something "In Range". Base was out of range, Targets near base out of range, SF's were being SF's and not presenting themselves...
I figure were waiting for more support ???? Just out of range of base...
I get an "Attack my target" command from pilot, swivel around to an SF that got to close and pop him off...Swivel back to the base....and I'm booted.
Later I hear it was cause I was sleeping in the turret...(I was having tea, and watching Oprah DVD collection...but I wasn't sleeping....) Kidding, it was a cola...
SO....Re-Reading a few things, I'm thinking I shoulda zoomed in and started plugging away at those enemy near the base, even though I was way out of range ?? Or I shoulda been plugging away at those SF's, even though they were out of range, and only giving a second or two of sig ?
My pilot wasn't shooting at anything either...Had he been I'da been plugging away also. And the whole time in sector, the only chat was one "Attack My Target", which I did. I was about to ask my pilot what was up even, as it seemed like we should be closer to effectively camp.
So what ya think ?, Should I have been firing at things Out of Range near the base, or centering my attention behind us on SF's...I want to learn ! (Maybe Comm or pilot mighta mentioned something b4 just booting me ???)

It's not the crappy comms (which is questionable here, the newbie should spend a bit more time on the Nov. Servers and/or hookup with a vet in the game and shadow them), it's was this comment:
QUOTE someday you may have a chance to deliberately ruin their game instead of accidentally.. :>[/quote]
That got people mad, if you know who Guns22/Black (black something, it was the same guy can remember the name) is in the history of Allegiance you will under stand peoples reaction to those types of statements.
I mainly played on the FZ back in the day, a little time on AZ but I would never pay for this game back in the day.
Goodguy3: Don't worry about it, it happens I have only been booted I think once of twice in my entire time playing allegiance. The best thing you can do is watch and learn. Ask a comm to join the game and let them know you will observe for the first 5-10mins and just watch the game from the F3 menu.
From there jump on a vets wing and stick like glue, it's harder than it would seem to be someones wingman but you will learn sooo much and it's fun.

There are things if you dont have a number that you will be booted for if a person is not sure you have decent team contributing skill.
Complaing about currant tec.
Yelling at the team.
Yelling at the commander.
Advising tec.
Not picking up pods.
Being in base when a undefended Miner/Constructor dies.
Your best bet is to quitely sit tight and escort cons/miners, probe, follow orders, or ask for somthing to do.
You wont get booted if you are being usefull and not a pain in the ass.

Anyway, it seems like the pot got stirred a bit, but no one gave the poor bootie any useful advice:
READ THE CHAT -- you can't go wrong and read the chat. If you get booted because comm issues 5,000 commands and decides you picked the wrong one to follow, make a note and PM the comm. Hopefully, you can have a nice civil discussion about things.
It is annoying as crap as a new player when you are getting the boot for the first time (or first several times) and you don't really understand why. You tend to think it is personal or something. It isn't. It is not fun, but it is usually not personal.
You might also want to enroll in the Cadet program -- it reduces your bootage quite a bit, ya know.
Have fun and keep flying.

Robin: "Gosh, Batman, this camel grass juice is great."
Batman: "Beware of strong stimulants, Robin."
You're going to get booted now and then when you screw up. Just learn from it. A good place to learn alleg is by being on miner defence with a vet for an entire game. Get a nan and a ton of prox and stay with the miners 24/7. Hopefully you'll have a vet in an int or fig with you to help defend.
Another good place to learn things is on the turret of a vet GS or hvy scout. You'd probably be best to ask them if you can turret for them first as a learning experience and you'll probably learn a ton. One thing to know if you do this is ONLY fire when you have the advantage (especially on a hvy scout) if your driver drops shields and missiles don't fire. GS and hvy scouts don't come along that often though so you're best off with miner D most of the time.
