QUOTE (Bard @ Jun 18 2010, 06:59 AM) I take back everything bad I ever said about you (wait, did I say anything bad about you? I don't think so. If I did, I take it back.)
Congratulations. You have gotten farther than most when it comes to compiles from the SVN.

I'm a code monkey, so I spend all ...

QUOTE (notjarvis @ Jun 18 2010, 02:46 AM) Done

Thanks, but I'm working on FAZ5, so I didn't think this was Beta-related.

FYI, I've added some code to do some dumping in FedSrvSiteBase::OnAppMessage(). I believe (if the comment is to be trusted) that all client messages pass through this ...

QUOTE (Bard @ Jun 15 2010, 12:55 AM) Actually the server logs can catch that to some degree because generally the people who do it use the game client to relay messages to each other.
In theory, they could use ventrilo or IM or what-have-you and it'd be much harder to catch but in general people ...

Before I start coding I'll be doing a full design spec and publishing it somewhere so that someone can continue from where I left off if i get hit by a bus.

QUOTE (Clay_Pigeon @ Jun 10 2010, 09:43 PM) If you look at it from the point of view of the server dumping events, generating a "recording ...

QUOTE (Bard @ Jun 10 2010, 04:19 PM) Sometimes people don't create patches in the sense that "downloading a patch" exists for most other software.
What will most likely happen is that something will get checked in and you'll have to download the code from the SVN and compile Allegiance with the ...

Oh, no, this thread has been hijacked. Lemme try get it back.

The best way to start getting involved in an opensource project is to start small. You'll start off doing a lot of admin and reading, rather than actual coding

I'd suggest the following steps (because I like lists):
Check out the latest ...

A tractor beam may be great, but could throw the game balance off or not actually be used.

IMHO, asteroids should be left stationary. Presumably, a tractor beam would be mounted on a sufficiently large ship. The cost required to research such a ship and such a weapon/tech would be huge. This would ...

QUOTE (Clay_Pigeon @ Jun 9 2010, 08:59 AM) Still, I'm thinking it might be better to plug into some of our existing projects.

Sometimes it is better to plug in, sometimes it is better to get inspiration from and sometimes it is better to start from scratch. The decision which way to go is ...

Hi All,

After a bit of absense from the game (and not much experience then), I've decided to attempt an introduction of a replay & recording system. I am a code monkey by day, so it's time I give away some of my talents for free. Please excuse any ignorance.

There are all sorts of reasons for or ...

Hi All,

I've had a bit of experience hammering wine into submission. There is some important diagnostic info that helps with figuring out what is happening:

1) Your distro flavour, version and architecture.
2) Wine version (If you installed from a precompiled package, check your package manager ...
