Hi, I'm trying to regain my old @Alleg callsign ("ogo") by registering it in the new ACSS, but am receiving an error message reading: "•This callsign is already registered on ASGS (the old security system). Please use your original password to create this account and claim this callsi...

Muchly intriguing... Do you have some sort of QoS enabled on your router? This might hold up ASGS packets if you are transmitting multimedia at nearly full link capacity.

Nice to hear :)
If you want a replacement AV, I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials.

Have fun playing the game. Try reading some of the training material on our Wiki (link at the top-right of the page) - makes learning a lot easier in the beginning ;)

Closing as solved.

Is Kaspersky also installed on the other comp you tried? Some AV sutes are known to cause issues for Allegiance (by blocking SSDP by default with no toggle option anywhere) - those include Norton, McAffee, AVG 2011. We don't see much of Kaspersky here, so I'm not sure if it might cause the same issu...

QUOTE (Clay_Pigeon @ May 17 2011, 02:21 PM) I'm a Mac user, and dual-booting with Boot Camp is the best/only way to go. It's very easy to use (the Boot Camp wizard does most of the work for you), but you need your own copy of Windows (XP and up). In my programmer dreams, I've considered investigati...

Looks like your registry entries used by ASGS got borked for some reason. Open regedit (Press Window+R, type 'regedit' without quotation, press Enter) and navigate to this branch: 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Allegiance\1.0\ASGS\2.0' using the nav tree on the left. See if y...

Does the Kaspersky suite come with built in firewall component? If so, check if there's an option in it to block something called SSDP or "Smart Service Discovery Protocol" and if there is, make sure it's set to allow traffic using that protocol. Another thing - see if the port range 2300-...

EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION usually means, that there is some corrupt or missing media file, so it's unlikely, that AV did that. The easiest way to fix it is to back up your inputmap1.mdl (key bindings) and reinstall Alleg, see if that helps. McAffee is responsible for failing to connect (also, it's ...
