ASGS Console Message: • The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to the remote server.

From the looks of it, you've got some form of networking problem going on. Have you changed your "Work Offline" settings in Internet Explorer? (Check this even if you always use Firefox as your web browser) Have you tried using the HTTP ports instead of DirectPlay ports? (Click the ASGS menu within ASGS before logging in) Have you tried rebooting?
