There are 5 steps to playing Allegiance.

  1. Download and install the game.
  2. The installer will direct you to create a gameplay account. Do so.
  3. Play the in-game training missions to learn the basics.
  4. Join a game online.
  5. Learn how to play.

Many new players think they can skip steps 3 and 5, but at a bare minimum you should do step 3 - the 7 Training Missions.

Gameplay Account

Creating a gameplay account

Your gameplay account is the name you will have in-game. You cannot login to online games without one.

  • You can create an account here, if you did not already create one when the installer prompted you to.
  • It will be associated with any computer you play on, this is to protect against cheaters circumventing callsigns.
  • Be careful you don't link your name to someone else's machine!

You will also want a forum account sooner or later.

Learn How to Play

The in-game training missions

Allegiance is a complex game. I know you may be eager to jump in and try the game out and see what it's like, but please, please, play the seven training missions first. Otherwise you'll just annoy other players by asking fundamental questions like "How do I fire my boosters?"; and you'll be very lucky if you find someone willing to explain things that are already covered by the training missions.

Important! The Training Missions teach you everything about how to "play" the game, but nothing about how to work with your teammates, how to be useful to your commander, how to win the game.

The training missions are the tip of the iceberg with regards to learning how to play Allegiance. As an analogy: playing the training missions is like learning how to hit a golfball. Taking Allegiance Flight School is like learning which golf club to use, what the layout of the course is like, what obstacles you need to avoid, and most importantly where the hole is.

Tip: Allegiance Flight School teaches you a lot, but takes a lot of time to read through. If you just want to try this game out, try reading the Quick Crash Course first. It'll give you enough tips that you won't be completely lost during your first game.
