Based upon the bomber class, gunships sacrifice station destroying ability for station defending. They have a decent main gun, more powerful turrets, more missiles per rack, and can mount light booster. They can also be used as escorts for bomb runs, constructor pushes, and carrier pushes.

They are difficult to use offensively due to their low speed, but a gunship which manages to get into an enemy sector with decent nan support can cause a massive headache for the enemy team. An unwary commander that lets their miner wander into such a sector can wave goodbye to it.
