Some information within this article is either obsolete, hasn't been updated in a long time, incomplete, or otherwise invalid.

Warning. This article only effects ASGS 2.1 Build 165.

This error message may occur if you installed Allegiance not on your root partition (the one Windows is installed to; most frequently, drive C). This appears to be (again) a problem with the obfuscation program used by ASGS and should be fixed shortly.

Workarounds

Reinstall Allegiance (easy)

  1. Reinstall Allegiance on your root partition.
  2. (optional) Copy the artwork folder of the previous installation to the new folder
  3. Move all the logs/scores/pictures you wish to keep somewhere safe
  4. Delete the original installation of the game

Mount the partition in an NTFS folder (advanced)

You can mount your Allegiance partition into a folder on your root partition. This is only suggested if the disk space on the root partition is scarce.

Warning. This solution only works if your root partition is formatted with NTFS. You can check what your partition is formatted with by checking the disk properties screen.
  1. Follow the instructions from Microsoft Knowledge Base to mount the Allegiance drive into another folder in your root partition. Here's a summary of the steps for your convenience:
    1. Make an empty folder in the root partition.
    2. Win+R → compmgmt.mscRunDisk Management.
    3. Right-click the Allegiance partition → Change Drive Letter and Paths.
    4. Click AddMount in the following empty NTFS folder.
    5. Pick the empty folder you created earlier, press Ok and close the windows.
  2. Proceed to update the registry paths:
    1. Start the registry editor (Win+R, regedit).
    2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Allegiance\1.0\.
    3. Make a backup of the key (FileExport).
    4. Change the registry keys EXE Path and ArtPath to the new locations.
  3. Adjust the Shortcuts to the new location
Reminder. You will need to update the registry information again if you wish to remove the link after the problem is fixed.
