- Abbreviation: sy
The Shipyard is required for any and all capital class ships. Shipyards are not commonly seen as many commanders view them as bit of a "money sink".
At the time of writing[1] the community core has the shipyard techtree as a linear progression of ship classes. Each level unlocks new capships and better equipment, and must be researched before the next level can be unlocked. All equipment researched in the shipyard are capital ship upgrades, such as large shields and heavy countermeasures. The Shipyard has one Global Attribute (GA) that can be researched: Ship speed.
