I got my duty station at Sembach Kaserne in Sembach with either the 30th Medical, 18th Military Police or Europe Regional Medical Command.. Sooooo how is it? Anything fun to do in Germany?


I gotta ask just because, but how's the interwebs and what are the best providers? (Given if on-base wiring exists)

I was in Sembach in 2005. To bad I hadn't time to watch the Super Bowl, because of my guard service.

No idea that barrack isn't closed yet, the AB Sembach was closed years ago.

At least you have access to the KMC.

If you wanna watch ice hockey, you can travel to Adler Mannheim (about 50 miles). If you wanna watch soccer, you can visit the 1. FC Kaiserslautern (10 miles).

I'm not familiar with that region of Germany anyway, but if you wanna visit Munich or Northern Hessia (Romantic Street), you're welcome.

I got no idea if German ISPs are able to sell their fixed line services within the barracks.

Seems Sembach is only a hub now, however they will send me somewhere else in Germany it seems. There are no barracks at Kaserne, they give us housing.

Landstuhl, Sembach, it's all in the same area. No real difference.

Hey i spent a lot of time at Ramstein AB when i was in the Air Force. Lots to do in Kaiserslauten/Landstuhl. In k-town they've got few excellent bars. Thirsty Nelly's is one, an irish pub. The meter bar is also great, they serve beers by the meter. Its like this meter long platter of beer glasses (not pints) We also used to go to the tree bar, but i heard that closed down.

Also there is this really cool go-cart racing track called something similar to the Nuremburg Ring. Go-carts in germany are fun as hell cause they go really fast, big indoor track, and like 25 minute long circuit that is maybe 20-30 Euro iirc.

Also you can catch a train in K-town and go all over Europe. When i went to Zurich it was about 150 euro round trip for the tickets, and was maybe 4 hours both ways. There are tons of places to eat, lots of stuff to do if you ask around. Rent a car go see Luxembourg. Go tour some of the old castles they have all over the place.

Just want to say, Nurburg and Nurburgring is different to Nuremberg (Nurnberg) which is famous for things other then racing.

I like many many many other drivers in the world do want to go around the Nordschleiffe at least once in my lifetime.

There's a pic of the go-cart place. HSharp is right about the spelling They've got a bar inside so you can get comfortable before you get on the track.

I'm not a big actual-car-racing kinda guy. When i think of going really fast i think of dying in a horrible crash, not having tons of fun.

Truth be told testing done at places like the Ring, while valuable, are still more of a marketing thing *shhh* don't tell anyone I want my turn

The punishment they are putting the entire truck series through is pretty damn impressive.

Btw I have been involved with pretty much all of the testing in the videos to one degree or another during my time on the hot seat.
