Super Bowl Sunday Game on the R8 Beta! (3pm EST)

Let's make it a Beta Weekend

Allegiance Wars resumes next Sunday! Get ready!

R8 Bug fixes:

•Experimental game type works now.
•Upgrading a miner no longer loses any ore that it's carrying.
•IPv6-related server crash fixed.
•LAN server is accessible now.
•Cores without certain stations will no longer crash.
•Turret-related crash fixed.
•Client will no longer crash without a sound card.
•A problem with upgrades not being transmitted to everyone in allied mode is fixed.
•Players joining the game will correctly view rocks and stations that their team can see, even if that rock is gone or station is upgraded.
•Station pods (for example) can be given a 'warn' flag in ICE and the sector will stop flashing when the pod is destroyed.

Notable Improvements:

•The default keymap uses WASD.
•Cortui (and glasshud and jelloshot and...) are all built-in now.
•#mutiny (and one or two others I think) work in the lobby (#list will tell you)
•Random faction works now.
•There's a bunch of additions to chat commands. Stop (ctrl-s) and Hide (ctrl-h) are new, a couple of old things work without a target (a build order will pick a nearby rock to build on, for example).
•There are two cores on FazDev which have things (constructors, miners) building right from the start.
•Drone AI isn't as infuriating. Miners are less likely to run towards enemies, for example.
•Miners with high capacity will use it better without needing as much micro.
•A bunch of little hud improvements. The inventory pane shows more useful stats, and the damage stats are colour-coded for how efficient your weapon is against your current target. Your targeting hud tells you how close you have to be to be spotted by that target. Possibly others.
•Chat timestamps in the lobby.
•Arrow keys work in the chatbox now (in-game only - lobby chat still doesn't this version)
•There's a no-kb deathmatch option now.

SEE YOU THIS WEEKEND!!!

Notable changes since last beta weekend:

Chat pane background resizes properly.Timestamps in the chat are handled better, are optional, and are off by default.F6 pane slides in from the left instead of the right (that was annoying some people).

something about out-of date server...

edit2:
QUOTE (log)"The server you are trying to play on is out-of-date. Find another server or contact the server's owner and tell them to auto-update by connecting to the zone match-making service. If that doesn't work, have the server's owner try deleting the file 'filelist.txt' from the install directory and restarting the server."[/quote]

You have to make games on FAZDev server.

If possible it would be awesome if we could get a newer core - Pcore001 is quite old and version 4 is much better if I may say so ;)

Alright so beta has a blocking rock-vision issue:

- unknown if this reproduces, but:
Phoenix built a transceiver on he3 rock
I enter the sector as first player of our team in the game, spot transceiver.
I get closer and spot the he3 rock inside the transceiver. <-- which should clearly not happen, since it doesnt exist.

Game ends before I have a chance to test out what happens if I kill the transceiver; or even leaving and entering the sector again.
