I convinced my friend to play Allegiance with me, he's never played it before. We just installed the game but when he logs in he gets the message mentioned in the title. His username is Col_Piggy and he gets a message it's linked to one Jhon2221. We tried creating another account but to no avail.
I noticed other people have had this and it can be resolved... can someone help out?
Can't log in because account is linked to someone else's
Thanks. In the mean time I've got a second problem. I had 2 friends over here, all 3 of us had our own computer. My other friend created the accound SesameChicken and we both played this afternoon, but now when he goes on to log in under the username SesameChicken, on the same computer as before, it says it's ALSO linked to this Jhon2221. Each account we made was made on the different pc, and SesameChicken was able to play on that computer fine before, but not anmore now.pkk wrote:QUOTE (pkk @ Oct 20 2013, 05:25 PM) I'll fix this tomorrow...
No PC right now available.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong... I hope you can help. Thanks again,
Seafoor
I've looked into this and I've found three different PCs.
DO NOT PLAY FROM THE SAME MACHINE!
Col_Piggy
Voort_saBinring - Merged with Col_Piggy (same email address)
SesameChicken - Unlinked from Col_Piggy
Jhon2221 - Unlinked from Col_Piggy
I leave this topic open, in case there are still problems.

The history of open-source Allegiance is paved with the bodies of dead code branches, forum flame wars, and personal vendettas. But a community remains because people still love the game.
Yes. Allegiance will link your account with the computer you play with, this is to try and stop people from dodging bans.
If you play with your account on another PC then that pc will be linked with your account and any accounts that are on that pc will be linked with your account. So stay safe and only play on your machines and have your friends only play on theirs.

Thanks for all the help, I will test to see it work later today. So, if I have friends over and have them play on my computer, I should just use my own account, but have them use a different call sign, correct?HSharp wrote:QUOTE (HSharp @ Oct 21 2013, 06:06 AM) Yes. If you aren't playing at the same time you can do that yes, the callsign will be linked to your computer, your friends shouldn't (unless you want accounts linked again) log in with theirs. All the callsigns on your account and computer are linked though so they will all have the same rank and no linked callsigns can play at the same time (hence your initial problem) so it doesn't make too much of a difference if you create a new callsign or just let them play with your main callsign. The only thing a different callsign can have is a different reaction from other players when you build a reputation with a callsign.Seafoor wrote:QUOTE (Seafoor @ Oct 21 2013, 08:54 PM) Thanks for all the help, I will test to see it work later today. If you want to play at the same time at the same location (IP address) as your friends but using different computers then you might also need to request for special exemption and even in that case you shouldn't mix the accounts/callsigns between the computers.
Account linking information can be found in the wiki (info is outdated, but basic principles still apply with new security system):
http://www.freeallegiance.org/FAW/index.ph...nking_callsigns
http://www.freeallegiance.org/FAW/index.ph...ind_a_router%3F

According to the wiki, up to 3 users could play from a single IP, so no special exemption should be needed. But I don´t know if the info is outdated...HSharp wrote:QUOTE (HSharp @ Oct 21 2013, 05:54 PM) If you want to play at the same time at the same location (IP address) as your friends but using different computers then you might also need to request for special exemption and even in that case you shouldn't mix the accounts/callsigns between the computers.
