I won't give you a date, you should be able to figure out the subject and that should give you the orator and the nation which he is talking about. As well as the event he is reffering to.
So let's see, no cheating

"Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous states have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail........We shall go on to the end, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strenght in the air, we shall defend our island, what ever the cost may be, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall never surrender.
And even if, which I do not for a moment to believe, this island or a large part of it were subjagated and starving, then our empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in gods good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forward to the rescue and the liberation of the old."

So who is this speaking?
What nation is he speaking of?
When?
What event?
And who will come to the rescue?

And be nice

The point of the post was to show what a leader is and what we are lacking in the world today. At least in my humble opinion.

Thanks for the honest and on topic anwsers. I await some to tell me to stfu and ride my jet skiis

Lol
PS As I read and learn more about WSC I find him more awesome and amazing. His leadership saved a great nation and a world.

churchill is made to look a lot better than he perhaps was by the general uselessness (or worse, in chamberlains case) of his contemporaries, and there are three or four better prime ministers that spring to mind (wellington, pitt the younger, disraeli). he also had a somewhat questionable record before ww2 and after it, and gets far too much credit for his anti-appeasement stance (in that its only ever him that gets credit, wheras people like amery, macmillan, eden* and others get forgotten)

still a great man in evil times though.

* though eden was useless, the david miliband of his era

Not sure on what the Polish did to help out Britain but from what I've read the Canadians where invaluable in both WWI & WWII.

Some Polish (rebel regiments) served under English command. Then moved to Canada to sell christmas trees, smoke pot, and counterfeit good Detroit products.
