So guys, I pre-ordered my N7 Edition of Mass Effect 3, anyone else into the franchise?
Typically, I steer away from role playing games (Like Skyrim, Dragon Age) But the solid story, great voice acting, somewhat solid shooting elements (although a bit repetitive) and impressive cut-scenes is what got me into it. My love story with the series began sometime in 2009, when Xbox Live had a sale for Mass Effect, and me being on the extremities of boredom, decided to research it and ultimately buy it. At first I was shocked by the player customization, and was stumped by the freedom to carry on the dialog using the basic Good guy/Bad guy/Neutral guy format and how that allowed you to progress your character weighting in your decisions (also surprisingly how some of the dialog changed based on the player's gender) The shooting and point allocation to abilities was also interesting, it kind of kept me going, even though the story and dialog had me hooked anyways. The Item collection was interesting, but often frustrating, due to the gigantic amounts of weapons/upgrades. Ammunition changed to a overheating mechanism gave me the ability to run and gun without much disarray. In total Mass Effect was a game close to perfection for me.
For Mass Effect 2, I pre-ordered and spend close to 24 hours per playthrough, item collection was replaced with an upgrade feature on the ship (With some collection for the upgrades) The shooting mechanism was remade and an introduction to ammunition pushed players to actually aim before shooting. Another thing was that it gave more emphasis on the squad play and squad selection for a certain mission. Again the story and acting was simply amazing, and the decision transfer from game to game really gave meaning to actually play the first game before playing the second.
Mass Effect 3 is the final culmination of the series, a possible masterpiece, or a big disappointment. Only time will tell, but for me, I'm prepared to Finish the Fight.

I was thinking about getting into the series, but it seems like the kind that I should start from the beginning. It's $20 on steam right now, I'm guessing it and ME2 will probably go on special for when ME3 is released so I will wait till then.

Having played both games ME and ME2, I can say it is worth the money. THe story is good, graphics is good and its brings a new form of tactical and strategic squad playing. You can possibly play the game again because you can choose different dialogues and stuff and you will see somethign new happen, but I still think once you play it you really can't be bothered to play it again because no matter what you choose the main storyline/plot will not change. Also the lack of multiplayer is quite a CON.
tl;dr
Buy the series, it's good
