Hello once again. I've left this community long ago, but I kept an entire array of contribution which, unfortunately, didn't make it to the general audience. I don't see a point in letting it die in my hard drive, so I've decided to release my works to the Allegiance community.

The files are compressed using 7zip, which is free.

My Allegiance folder is full (even though I lost some minor things) of my contribution to this wonderful community.
I've tried to minimally organize the Quantus folder. Since everyone could access it, there should be no problem posting it up here.

ALLEGIANCE & QUANTUS (hosted by fwiffo)
Allegiance, Contents and Info:

Bio-Lumen (Faction):
Formats are .wings (Wings3D), .ms3d (Milkshape), .mdl and .cvh (Allegiance), and some Paint.NET/Inkscape images. Milkshape is commercial. If you plan on making a new faction, looking at how I organized all the work on this one might be useful for you.Minimap images have an 'm' before 'BL', research icons have an 'i' and loadout icons have an 'l', in file names.Advanced bases have an 'a' (BLsup v BLasup). They share textures, so no performance impact with two models for each base.Bio-Lumen Heat Cells (concept):Weapon with 0 damage and range, negative projectile direction (the particles are expelled from the rear of the craft), negative signature (cloaks you) and ammo-based. This means that you can mount these and instead of energy they use ammo (when you get out of ammo they are useless). You fire them as you'd do with normal weapons, and they were intended to replace cloak devices. The ammo here would be the actual "Heat Cells" being ejected from the craft, therefore reducing it's heat (signature). You can mount just one Heat Cell (minimum cloak) or you can fill all 4 weapon slots with them (maximum cloak). The Scar (concept):4 weapons - 3 "slaves" and one "main". The Scar can only take these weapons. The "main" weapon is the one who does the (significant) damage, and requires a massive energy input. The Scar's own energy reserves are not enough. Therefore:The "slaves" generate a small area damage, but act as energy-positive weapons. They "feed" energy to the ship (negative energy demand). You then need all 3 slaves and the main to be continuously firing the main. The Scar has three arms pointing forward - the slaves fire from each tip, and the main fires between the three (from the actual point equidistant from the three arm tips). All projectiles have 0 velocity, near zero lifetime and high ROF. What this means is, the particles of each weapon are literally fixed relative to the ship (and their origins).Result is that you have a little sprite in the middle of the arms that kills anything it touches, eg. bases; but the Scar however needs to... "hug" them. Pictures 1 and 2.
Faction X (Partial faction)Half the bases and half the ships of Faction X, including the Milkshape sources, textures and .mdl's, but mostly cvh's. Andon should have this and the other half. Andon owns the models and I own the cvh's.
Oil Gauge (HUD)Simple HUD I had done, quite streamlined and fairly hard to read but sleek and unclutters the view whilst keeping things at eye range.
ScoresOld scores of my Allegiance games. This may be of not much interest to you; but hey, they were already in the folder, and perhaps you also star in them.
SPQR AvatarsAvatars of a now nonexistent squad. Includes sources for you to tinker with them.
WallpapersOf almost every faction. Includes normal and Widescreen.Sources and Paint.NET layers included.
ImagesOld screenshots, signatures, mods, etc. (beware I choose not to rename the images in sake of information and some may have confusing filenames).

Quantus, Contents and Info:

My 400+ models, concepts, images and user interface, plus some more models. Wings 3D, Paint.NET, Inkscape were my (free) tools.Images of said art (same warning about filenames as the allegiance images folder). Some coding and artwork from Fuzz, sambasti, devil and many others whose names are in the file. These belong to their respective owners.Numerous files of work flow and chatter.Clutter and/or dust particles.

You, reader, are free to use my files for the good of this community (and eventual offspring of it), if you at least give me credit for my work. I'd specially like to see my faction finally be enjoyed in a core! If you plan to use my files for something else, please contact me. Everything else is bound to the will and right of their respective owners.

Thanks to all the individuals of this community who make this one of the friendliest (don't deny it) communities out there and thanks to those who plan on using these files for, again, the community.

2007-2011

PS: I'd be thankful if someone could host these files.
EDIT: Added link to fwiffo's hosted files.
EDIT2: Remembered what Bio-Lumen Heat Cells were for, check text for details. Also adding Quantus & Allegiance images to files.

Thanks for releasing this.

Sorry that no one really cared about your faction.

If you want to 'move' to another place where doers are welcomed, go to http://thegamersoffice.com/AFSMOD.

I'll host your files on the Free Allegiance open project.

you can't just show up and go HEY I DID THIS @#(! PUT IT IN THE GAME RIGHT NOW and then whine when it doesn't get done right away

an enormous amount of work needs to be done, especially when 1) your faction concept isn't very good and needs to be overhauled and 2) most of your models have poorly done cvhs that aren't centered, have non-autogenned hitboxes and bad gun mounts

Vir posts in the wrong thread?

From what I see it this post is a dude offering up all the artwork files he has for people to use, not Alien whining about how the Pink Orc faction isn't able to use Rix fancy cannons or something

nope, I posted in the right thread

i've already had dialogue with hockfire and made him aware there's an enormous amount of work required to actually use any of his stuff. i don't really care if he dumps everything in public, but it's pretty important for people to know that this stuff can't just be thrown into the game and work well

i know you have no problem with implementing and releasing poorly crafted work, but some of us have higher standards

wow what a black&white world you're living in. no nuance or shades. That explains a lot of things.

The guy is clearly an 'art' guy. not a core guy, not a code guy, not a mdl/cvh/mount guy.
Of course he's not gonna produce a finished , 'ready to play' polished complete faction.
Why ? Because you know, there is something called 'teamwork' and sharing the workload: some people do artwork, other people do integration of that artwork (CVHing, MDLing), some people deals with numbers and balance in cores, etc.
It's not a one man job or it will take years to do and often a crappy result. It's not core man (you) + art man (him) either.
It should be a whole team.

The question is why this didn't happen 3 years ago.

So I don't blame you here. I just find you arrogant and full of contempt. And very self-centered in what you do.

I blame the 'lead' people in charge here who let all this work perish. Even today did they even care ? Will they promote this work (the art, not the faction idea or the crappy CVHs, just the art) so that OTHER people might take from here and do something. Will they organize this to happen, connect people and remove obstacles, the very definition of 'lead'. Yeah lead = organize, connect and remove obstacles. not take credit, give orders and delegate.

Well I doubt that.

And this is just sad.

The first two sentences made OPs intentions clear. He doesn't play anymore but has lots of cool stuff so he's giving it to us so we can use it if we want rather than let it go to waste. The correct response here is "Thanks" and maybe "See you around :) ".

/me I could dump my allegiance development folders, but I don't think there isn't really anything good that I haven't already released...

edit: @OP Thanks, see ya around :)

yep thats the right attitude for this. thanks hockfire for releasing the stuff and indexing whats in it. it is done in the same generous spirit in which numerous individuals have contributed to the game/community past and present, so ill do my part and host these files for posterity.
