I wrote several articles on french websites (most of them are specialized to open-source softwares) in order to make advertise Allegiance but it looks the license is a problem.
I feel that as long as the license is not GPL, we can't fight is the same category as Urban Terror, for instance. So, it's not a commercial game (not recent, graphics are not "competitive", but it's not a "real" open-source game either. This "shared-source" is a big problem. Is there a way to change that? Does somebody, in this community, know somebody in Microsoft that can release the source code of the game under GPL? After 10 years, I'm sure they wouldn't mind... well, I hope.


By the way, I was watching a football game last week-end on justin TV and I noticed that some people created a channel where you can actually see them play their favorite game. I didn't really care about Halo but hundreds of players were watching this guy play. I think it could be a good idea if somebody create a channel and add it on this website. Could be a good way to show what Allegiance is in front of players who are inclined to play this game.
I mean, we have to advertise where the players are.

They didn't even want to sell the license to Thalgor. That MS released the source was a real surprise and I don't think they'll give up the whole merchandise tp the gpl.

I don't think MS will give it up. Also, we already have tons of videos posted to YouTube.

Yes, but you have to look for Allegiance if you want to see them. So, almost only allegiance's players are watching them. A channel would be completely different :
- You are playing (not a recorded video)
- You can chat with people who are watching you.

That's actually very efficient. And it cost nothing, you don't even have to record and post. Just play. Once again, if we want new players (who don't know anything about Allegiance), we have to find them. That's just a way. I'm sure there are a lot more.

I actually broadcast a show on ustream (http://www.ustream.tv/channel/freeallegiance) live. I had a couple of audio problems that I've since solved, but it's a time factor for me. I just don't have much:(.

Isn't that rather a large problem for the actual gameplay?

I wouldn't want to spend twenty minutes sneaking an HTT only to find that the other team are watching someone on my team broadcasting it to them.

Yea, to prevent that requires some rather fast thinking on the part of the broadcaster, but spidey and I did a decent job (at least I thought so). If I hadn't had the audio issues, it would have been watchable even . hah.
