My new computer pulls some graphical weirdness with alleg. Namely, it makes the space backgrounds look like kaleidoscopic vomit. Turning environment to off in the graphical settings has ameliorated this somewhat, but it still gets buggy when my ship gets too near another one.
I'm running an HP dv6 laptop, w/ intel i3 cpu m330 @ 2.13 GHz, 4 GB RAM, plenty of hard drive space. The graphics card is an Intel Graphics HD card w/ supposedly 1696MB of vram, it's the onboard graphics card and I don't think it can be easily switched out.
Any idea for a fix beyond disabling graphics options?

Hi,
This sounds like a bug but I can't be sure if we know about it or not. A more specific model of graphics card would be great. I know we have
this in the bug tracker but it does not sound like what you mentioned.
Please fill out the template in the readme at the top of this subforum. Also posting the .log files found in your Allegiance directory could be a big help. Last thing, post some screenshots.
If we don't know about the issue, we can try to fix it

1 never buy a HP pc/laptop again
2 try downloading the newest drivers for ur graphics card.
3 if it is a laptop u can indeed forget about trying to switch of the card, bcos there is just no way of replacing it/connecting another one.
4 if upgrading to the newest drivers does not work you also might try to get older drivers.
5 Intel Graphics HD card“s has a built in driver update thing called: "Intel® Driver Update Utility (IDUU)"
For any other try to resolving ur issue we really shuld know whut kind of card it exactly is, u also might want to find out urselfs on the microsoft KB site, it has loads of basic info there. I wanted to look it up 4u but as I do not know whut kind of card it exactly is, it wouldnt be very helpfull.
I can type DXdiag in the run command box under start, to find out whut kind of card u exactly have and what the driver version/date is.

It's a known issue with Intel's integrated graphics chipsets. It was introduced in the R5 build of Allegiance (current release), it is supposedly fixed by the R6 build, which has recently entered it's Beta stage.

i've been having the same issue on my laptop, which has an intel G4500 chipset. The beta client fixes it tho, it also avoids the game crashing into a blue screen of doom at random. i just hope the new client goes live very soon, or i can't play again until it does. At least i am able to try my other models in beta mode but bleh... no games for me 'til then

He told us on IRC one day (and didn't stay very long for us to notice he was there). I wasn't aware of the specific chipset he was using, though.
