Well. As a fellow novice I sometimes wish to try out commanding and / or just playing at a different level with other novices.
Not once (exception is AFS training) have I seen a game going on in the servers for newbies.
This probably has to do with too few novices at the same time but also everybody is going where the action is (main game). So I propose that we try to meet up at the newbie servers for a pure noob game where we can try out comming and flying without feeling the pressure for not ruining a game with more seasoned players.
Question: is there an interrest for this and what time would suit you?
I play from Europe so around 19.00
CET would be ok for myself.
What say you?

the largest problem with the newbie servers is that there are often not @HELP around to command or organize practices, so it turns into (4)'s destroying (0)'s because they know more about commanding.
if you are going to use the newbie server, i suggest you change the settings to DEATHMATCH on brawl with development off, and practice dogfighting.
without a goal in mind, you are wasting your time, and actually accomplishing negative learning

This.
It may be good for you guys to organise some things together - if they stay organised and fairly even.

It's ok to use the newbie server for experimenting and looking at the tech of course. Just messing around and having fun has it's place, especially when new to the game.
We @HELP try to take time to staff the newbie servers, but it takes dedication and going to the empty server to wait for newbies who find their way there. When I have an hour or two to spend, I do it. All too often, I do not. It's probably the case for all of us.

Remember: Having fun does
sometimes have a place in this computer game! Well, for those who are new, anyway.
I think the problem is that the cut-off for who is allowed on the server has been lowered too far. 5s, 6s, and maybe 7s should be allowed on the newbie server. And they should go crazy and have giant cap-ship-only games with ridiculous money settings and otherwise have fun and mess around without learning anything, because that might get them to like the game more and maybe encourage more to stay.

if you want a 5-6-7 game just setup a Novice Only Side game.
I did this from time to time when my rank was below 8.....

I want 5-6 and maybe 7 games that are for people who don't necessarily know how to set up their own server yet.

And that are available all the time and labelled as for the use of newbies. In short, I want the old newbie server back, from before the new rank limit was imposed. That seemed to work just fine.

I agree...
How does one become an @help if he/she was so inclined to help out?

Great idea. I wish I had a clue about server setup, and I'd do it.
Because I sure as hell cannot@Help anyone yet.
