There will be multiple phases from the allegiance marketing team. What you are seeing here is the first marketing phase. Follow-up phases will be scheduled at later dates and are much more ambitious and obviously require a lot of work from a LOT of different people.

Also, please note that we won't necessarily STOP these items at the second week mark. We do want to measure the incoming traffic (and have some rudimentary ways of doing so) which is why we are separating the items with some time.

===============
PHASE I (basic ads):
===============

January 1 - 14 - Forum postings. We have a rather large list of forums that we will be posting some standard posts to. We hope this will help drive some additional traffic/interest.

January 15 - January 28 - Flyers posted on campuses worldwide. A day or so before the start date, we'll be posting the flyers our guys have been working on for you to post. Uni students are a great audience for us. If you have any actual flyers you'd like to develop, please send them our way (not just ideas, we have TONS of those, we need more actual hardcopy).

===============
PHASE II (intermediate promo/basic ads):
===============

January 29 - February 11 - Reviews (if possible) on official gaming sites and blogs (not forum type things). This will be VERY nice if we can get some basic reviews from some gamers. If you have contacts at any official gaming blogs/shows/podcasts, please let us know and introduce us so we can setup some interviews/reviews. We need this info ASAP if at all possible.

February 12 - February 25 - Banner promotion on freebie banner rotations. We're looking for some good rotations right now. If you know of any, please send them to us so we can make sure we get our banners in play!

March 2010 - Allegiance Sports gets a spot on an XM radio show (I hope). I'm gunning for this and I hope we get a good commercial together that we can have on a show that runs weekly on XM.

===============
PHASE III (unscheduled advanced ads):
===============

We're hoping to generate some buzz around the success of our previous marketing efforts. Use our marketing to GENERATE marketing. It's all baby steps. With a $0 budget, we've got some great things.

Other unscheduled items are likely to pop up. We've got some really nice graphics being constructed by the Marketing Team right now that have me VERY excited. We have news.freeallegiance.org prepped and decently ready to go. Run on over and have a look and give us some feedback. Let's stay away from the "front page" competition feedback, news.fao is NOT the front page of Alleg, ok? Do more than read the initial page, dig a little and, heck, send us more material. I'll be cranking up work on some alleg video projects soon, so keep me in mind if I pop in game and ask for volunteers to come to a locked server:).

As always, we're accepting suggestions. We've had several great ones already that haven't made it into our plans, so if you sent something and haven't seen it yet, don't feel discouraged. We're working with our original thoughts and plan on continuing our efforts in multiple forms for the foreseeable future, so don't think this is "all" that is coming:).

Machinima episodes? I am working on a script and would love some help with the recording and editing of the episodes, looking at a 4 to 6 episode story arc (follows an IC Wing after the destruction of earth, going for a bit of a pulp fiction/military scifi feel to the story, fighting between IC and Giga with Bios stiring the pot).

Not quite sure how mechanimation works with no humanoid models, you can't do as many subtly meaningful movements with a ship that can never change shape, only move it's position and rotate.

Could try it and see how it works out, I once tried to make a mini film using a combination of ingame footage and 3ds studio max, but gave up on it a long time ago.

If Refill or someone else who can edit like this volunteered then a machinima would be entirely possible. Take a lot of effort though.

Hello!

It is a lot of effort, I was thinking of using talking heads (aka Wing Commander style) to show the comm traffic between the ships. Using 3d models is way to much effort for what is basically $0 budget :) in the future perhaps, but I would be more inclined to use an existing engine (fallout 3 is a potential one to use).

The whole thing would take place in the ships and if we want to get fancy we can look at using a blue screen and using actual actors (I can tap my old drama teacher if it actually gets to that stage), would need some cockpit designs etc.

Didn't want to take it that far initially but we have the best simulator for showing off sweet sweet space combat action.

Think Wing Commander, that was what was in my head for how to show the dialogue between ships.

Each 'series' of episodes would focus on a different faction, I have a rough outline done now on the story arc (haven't gotten past the belters yet, need to do more research Rix/Dreg/TF cannon material before going to them, Dreg won't be in until they get better models).

Obviously a work in progress and things will change as the story develops :)

Little glitch on news.freeallegiance.org: the javascript thingamajig you're using to display images in the Multimedia section isn't configured quite right, specifically the part where it shrinks down pics that're too big for the screen of the person viewing them. Seems to be shrinking them to some obscene number like 98% or 99% of screen-size, with the result that the back/next buttons at the bottom are pushed offscreen by the image taking up the entire viewable area, meaning people won't see them at all unless they scroll down or have a massive display resolution. Well, I used Firefox 3.5.6 to view, but I imagine the behavior wouldn't be significantly different in other browsers if my guess of the cause is right.
