How about being able to shoot down incoming missiles? Good or bad idea?

I think it's kind of interesting myself, but wanted to know what you all thought.

You already can. It is much easier to shoot down a hunter 3 than it is to dodge or counter it. Easy as heck from a turret or with an int with good minis/gunmounts as well.

I never seem to be able to. O_o Well, I think I may have a couple times, but they take multiple hits to kill, and are very hard to hit. Or at least with my skills they are. >_<

But yes, you can shoot missiles down already, though I guess you could still talk about whether it should be made easier to do so. >_> (Though this might not be the right forum for it, sounds more like a core issue.)

A "Target incoming missile" button would be useful.

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.

FYI, it takes three hits from AC1 to kill a missile, unless you're IC, or Rix, or have damage ga1, in which case it takes two hits. IC or Rix AC3 with damage ga2 will kill a missile in one hit. Hitting seeker or hunter is difficult but possible. On the other hand, if bombers were any less vulnerable to hunter missiles I think Tac would be completely useless for defending, instead of mostly useless.

"Target nearest enemy missile" or "target missile targeted on me" would make useful keys, I agree, hopefully someone will add one of those for R6.

It's always amusing to receive a message on (all) from the person who's missiles you're shooting down when they don't realise it can be done. :)

I still remember a game when we were firing res3 in a last ditch attempt to break into a system, and our gunner decides that it would be a fun idea to fire randomly... and he shoots the res killing it.
