Chat Command Exploit

This is a bug which is handy but pretty much like cheating, i'd say it's around as bad as seeing He3 going down uneyed and seeing build spheres but it's less well known.

Basically the exploit is press enter to get the chat box up, then press ctrl+a, this orders your team (or whoever you are talking to) to attack, that is not the exploit though, the exploit uses Allegiance's very handy auto-complete feature when chatting, simply typing . after pressing ctrl+a and it will give an attack command to an enemy drone, you can then try and complete it more .m for miners .o for op cons .e for expansion etc... and you can use this to see what drones the enemy has regardless of them being eyed or not. (Note: sometimes you might actually be autocompleting it for your own drones so better check your own first)

I'm announcing this publicly because you can't really track when people are using the exploit (and yes I do) and this will sort of level the playing field until it gets fixed, the only suggestion I can think of to fix it is to have autocomplete only apply to things found on f6. Using this you can check to see if the enemy has launched a con and depending on rocks and stuff would allow you to do a sneaky strike on a tech con which the other team thinks is uneyed.

Also not tried yet but I suppose this could be used for asteroids as well, not much use but you can check right at the start if there are any certain techbase rocks perhaps, only applicable to the times where there isn't a certain techbase rock in the whole map (if this works that is) so you could have an early plan if you find no Ur rocks or C rocks or Si rocks.

I suppose an easy fix would be removing the autocomplete function or making it applicable to players only but then it would annoy quite a few commanders (Jimmy definately) and me as I often use the chatbox to move drones around while out of base.

It surely is much harder to exploit, at least for miners.

well the thing is when you do ctrl+a normally it only autocompletes enemy miner, sometimes it might get your own, it might be affected by who you are chatting to or if you are comm or some weird stuff, also you can keep testing the autocomlete by changing the miner numbers so you can know exactly how many miners your enemy has.

That bugfix is due to R3, not Noir changing the names on his core. I think.

Yep, the . had nothing to do with it. I guess the attack command was missed during the fixing.

Yeah, you could. The bug has been fixed in R2, IIRC.
