Ok...this is a recap/rant. This was a fun match on Star. IC vs GT. Our opening OP con died, as did their's. We pushed a tp middle on our side and an op low. They went sup, we went exp. The team stuck with it through a lot of crap. Lost a bunch of miners, got down to 1. Eventually we lost that one too. Never got adv tech. Thanks to playyers like Snack, Typhoon, yiggz, Fwiffo, treble, and a few others I may have missed. The team, early on, stuck with it through a lot of just bad luck and crap going wrong. No one was at fault. We lost our first exp, got another one. We kept plugging away. Even tried pushing an OP into a crap storm. We ended up resigning when we lost our 1 lone miner.

I am not making this post to recap the game, it was like most other games. THAT is what bugs me. We had a few folks join, whom I will not name. However they represent the bane of my comming existence. I am not great, but I know what I know. And one thing that bugs me is people who join, and start saying how we should do this and do this and this is going on and recaping what happened and saying how @#(! will fail and the game is over. That game was over when they killed our first exp...it was a downhill slope when they picked off our miners. However....soemtimes.....SOMETIMES a game is worth playing, even if u may most likely lose. There was a sliver of hope....that maybe the enemy would slip up....make a mistake. Pushing that last OP against adv tech intoa sector they owned was silly, I know. We had no other choices. WE were down to 1 last rock to mine and needed to even buy a miner since the others were all dead. That was our only shot.

Sometimes you need to push cons or bomb stuff in situations that are not ideal. Sometimes the team wants to stick with it and make the other side work for it. BEfore you vets, me included, start joining games and acting like know it alls....STFU and let the comm do his job. IF you want to comm...step up and comm, otherwise stfu and play. OFfer some suggestions, that is fine...but don't be asses about it just because u r able to hide behind your monitor.

I have played 2 games against ACS_07 and both were fund, the 2nd one, not so much, but it was still a gg. Just because a game is a loss, does not mean it is no fun. However, what RUINS a game is when the ego's are not checked at the lobby door. It gets old fast. I, like others, have a good sense about how to play and how to comm. I am human, I mess up, like everyone else. Deal with it. I also have ideas and plans and ways I want to make stuff happen. If the team works together, that can happen. MAybe if some of the loud talkers with big ego's learn to keep them in check more and not berate comms, more folks would be willing to comm. My skin is thick, but it still bugs me when folks point out stuff u did wrong. No kidding what I did was wrong...I KNOW that, but I did it for a reason. That is the idea of being the com. You know what to do and what not to do, however sometimes, what to do is not the ideal situation. You have to decide when to do the stuff u should not normally do.

So anyways.....gg ACS_07 and thanks to those who fly for me and give me 110%, you all rock!

:D

Well said Badger, I've come across this a lot lately too, people whining that we let them miner here or there, that why wasn't that sector probed... except in much more colourful language, and repeated again and again. SO WHAT, IT'S A PICK-UP GAME THINGS GO WRONG, HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PLAYING TO NOT REALISE THIS???

Once you realise & accept this simple truth, pick-up games can be a lot of fun :) Also agree with your "just because we lost doesn't mean it wasn't fun" point... sometimes your team is just awful and it's no fun, but other times you can put up a good fight in the face of huge odds and superior tech, and even though you lost, the team really did try hard and perhaps had some minor successes, and people had fun :)

Interesting fact...

One out of every two teams loses (excluding those rare multi-team games).

It's true, really; do the maths yourself if you want!

The suggestion I offered was don't send this op to their tp when they have gat3 and df3, you ignored it.

oh, and not noticing that you only 1 AB left cause you were trying to AB the bbr that was killing your exp when bomb runs crossed ...that was just silly. I hit with 3 abs out of 6, but we didn't kill nans fast enough.

That bomb run was hilarious.

I was all pessimist and telling the team not to bother docking at the op and telling the members left alive not to D the OP because it was dead.

boy that was a shocker ...

I killed two miners that game, and got bitched at. Why, I dunno. Apparently we lost some kind of base or whatnot whilst I was in the middle of killing a COMPLETELY UNDEFENDED MINER and it was my fault...gotcha.

This was game 1 of 5 PUs today I played (all IC except the last which was belts, two on star, three on HiHigher) - and each time IC lost. Is there a lesson? A moral?

No big deal, up days and down days - I think the feeling is much worse when in the command seat. All that can be said has already been said at one point or another about the difficulty of command, the forgiving of mistakes, or the tolerance of different skill levels. (Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V)

Nice job today though Badger, a hard try is always what makes a game memorable and great to me.

Yeah, the moral is IC is too weak faction and they need an extra perk. Maybe Unbombable tech bases?

ICs current major nerf is its cons. Slow and costly. You lose one, you've lost map control. PUG Teams don't d cons like they should.
