So I have been wondering, what do you guys think is the best way to try and pull out a miner kill against SFs.

State your ship (except the obvious: SFs), Modus operandi, etc. considering you a situation in which you know there is a miner 2 sectors away from a launch/rippoint of yours cause you just saw the He3 bug... which means it includes getting into the sector, finding the miner and taking it out before SFs can take you out.

I'll withhold my answer for a bit to try and compare it with the ones posted here.

Fire away!

I would tell the team that the enemy miners are mining in X sector, take my int along with five or so cronies, one of whom in a scout (or just IB), roll in, go to the rock that is being mined, killed the miner, boost back home.

If I was solo (chances are at least one person would come along cuz I'd PM them on my team, but anyway) I'd roll in, find the miner (trying to be as low key as possible) and kill it while dodging hunters, or if the enemy moved in close to take me out with snipers I'd kill him.

Also since minis don't do that much damage I'd probably run away after taking the miner's hull down to maybe under 50% while I'm at 20% and complain to the team.

To kill a miner against SFs:
Boost there
Kill it while hitting chaff
Boost/boost rip home
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

Against sfs you should be more concerned against defending your own miners. You can send out 1 lt. int per miner to kill theirs because I guarantee you in a PU game no one will be using an sf to d.

Flagship 4. Cloak and sneak up on 'em then tear them apart. I think I might be able to get a miner or two before the sfs get me :D

Why kill a damned miner when you can get bombers and *blow* the tac outta space?

My solution was also a turreted heavy scout. It's instateamwork and insta-offense and also the quicklaunch missiles are pretty much the only option. This is specially true for belters Hvy scout which can get into strike range amazingly quick.

But think about it, Garr tech is pretty much the only option when trying out against tac, except fighting fire with fire and tac with tac, of course. Everything else is just too damn expensive and not as effective.

Adv Figs are sure nice with the galving and hypothetical boxing in. Expensive as hell though, and probably the hardest to kill a miner with enh tech against SFs. Just too loud and hampered.

Hvy Ints are not much better. Sure they're the best at defending miners vs SFs with PP and at finding the miner in sector, but Minis are just not good vs Utl hull. Forever to take down a miner with no kb and mini2 reg int.

Against tac, everything is suicide and a clock is ticking for you... the clock of SBs. Wait too long and you're fighting SBs making it even harder to get to some sector useful (if they bomb your fwd base, and they will).

Bombing is good, but you have to be able to understand when to bomb and when not to... and not to sit crossarmed while you're bringing the necesary tech up while a group of D d's the miner. 7 defenders are not better than 6. Anything over 6 defenders (hell, sometime 4) for a single miner is overkill and no more effective. You have to be able to effectively slowdown the SB clock. Kill miners. Buy Hvy Scouts vs Tac.

Edit: But please don't use them to dogfight sfs. Set your objectives straight. Miner miner miner.

your scenario is 1)you 2)a single sf.

i'd take a $#@!ing heavy int and use the miner as a missile shield
Classifiable up to Trolleomorphism.
