Hello All,
I am starting this post in order to spark new ideas. Me and a few other Alleg members find race core to be very fun and have found different ways to have a blast. I created a few race tracks that many people enjoyed. I'll start making more and saving screenshots in order to ppst in the forums and prepetuate the idea of implementation. (so we wont have to make them everytime) As of today I will make a few maps to start with and continue on this mission. Feel free to provide ideas and helping hands if this is something that also interest you.

Race Core
I would love to work on the race core if the servers were fixed.

People just take stuff too seriously I think. Except IB, of course.
My random idea (from someone who does not know any coding) is: What if you make the objects that define the race track drones, and just make it really easy to produce them in massive quantities from the "Racer's Room" base? Then you could order them around the map and... well, it would at least be easier to set up than deploying probes one by one. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> [Edit: Actually I just thought about it and no, maybe it would not be. >_< But if you make the drone objects LARGE, like I describe below, you wouldn't need many of them, and then this would be much much easier.] I don't know how the coding works, but maybe there's some way to make drones interact so they'd align with each other to make it a bit easier?
Also: Perhaps a custom object can be created to define the course? Flying between two lines of probes is very confusing and it's easy to stray from the track. >_< Perhaps a very simple, low-polygon, "gate" shaped object (basically a box with two sides missing that you fly through) could be created instead?
In fact, you could make several different kinds. If they were drones, you could build them all in the same base, but they'd come in different shapes to save time. Like, if you need a long straight stretch of racecourse, there would be a drone shaped like a really long box. And there would be smaller drones or even ones with curved shapes to define different parts.
The only real problem then would be getting them to face in the right direction. >_> But if you make them very manoeuvrable, and just order each drone a command to go towards the next one, perhaps you could get them to line up on their own for the most part, with auto-pilot. >_>
ANOTHER RANDOM IDEA: As an alternative, instead of making racers follow a path between two lines of probes, make one line of probes, and make racers stay within a certain distance of it. Perhaps some sort of coding could be used to make the probes "know" when a racer gets too far from the track? After all, there are things in Allegiance that can track their distance from ships, like towers and TF bombs and such. Then the probes could perhaps do something to make the racers know they've gotten out of range. Like... shoot them. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
But I like the low-poly tunnel idea more.
Maybe there is a way of adding turrets here, too. For example: The course could be made out of many small gates, with small bits of space between them. Then the course would still be well-defined, but it would be possible for pilots to fly out of it anyway if they manage to miss the next gate. Drone turrets could be mounted outside of the gates, and these would shoot the pilots. However, they would be restricted as to how far they can turn, so they can only shoot "outside" the track.
Anyway, those are my random ideas. ^_^ Also, I really hope mines are incorporated in SOME way, because dodging them is always an important Allegiance skill. ^_^
Also, I really like the "rocket" ship because it is cute.
Edit: Mines are objects you can fly through, but take damage. >_> Sooo race course objects could be big, solid objects (like the boxes I describe above) that you can still fly though, but take damage from. That would make staying within the course a bit more challenging. ^_^ Plus the tower idea.

Thanks for the responses guys. I am trying to post our course screenshots but me being so gangsta and un-savvy with the computer, if it's not cut and paste I'll have to actuaally work to find out...sigh...work... Anyway, Raveen it seem you have tried this ar suggested it before. Maybe we can have a round table wit you, Correct, KGJV or whoever had the solution. The core is what you make of it and with nothing but race probes we made it FLIPPIN AWESOME!!!! So yea, lets first find out who can fix the server so that Correct can live up to his words. yes Correct, you are now being held accountable for your words ;o) It truly does seem that we had a few key pieces to the puzzle, its enough to start with.
1. We now know there is a problem with the server(Tks Correct)
2. We know that the server codes can cause a problem with alephs and maybe other things, but there is also a solution to this.......That we don't know yet.
3. There is no short on ideas, Makida is FULL of them.
I'm sure someone knows who host this core and developed the codes so we definitely have to start there.
I HAVE DREAMMMM
THAT ONE DAYYYYY
We will ALLLLLLLLL Fly in Space, Racing across our cosmos
IC'ers!! hand in hand with TechFluxians
with BIOS'i piggy backing Rixians!
In the spirit of Race Core we pray, AaaaCHOOO!

I've got apoch making a core for me so I can test some different boosters Mass/Comsum/Accel/Speed.
Rather than different ships like the current racecore I thought of doing it more formula one where everyone has the same basic chassis, you just add a different booster and armour.
The Armour would add to your hitpoints [the chassis itself would have very little] However the more hps you add the more mass you add and lower your basic acceleration.
The Boosters would have different top speeds, acceleration and burn through fuel at different rates, meaning you'd need more pitstops.

The new AME is done. I've still to code the randomization change in R5 server.
In AME, I've added the possibility to edit the aleph icon (which is alephbmp.mdl by default). You can use any bitmap now, allowing to place some big arrows or numbers above alephs for instance.
I'll post a link to DL both AME and the new R5 binaries once finished.

This is GREAT. Thanks for the update KGJV. I have a few questions also. Would it be possible to make in-sector courses and save them, or have default ones? We have been using race probes to do so but as you know they are hard to see and we spend lots of time making them. Here are some examples.

We have many ideas on what we could substitute the probes with although I believe it is best to know our capabilities before we put to much thought into anything.
As i've just read IB's latest post, this may be something that can be developed in that core. How many variations of fuel and armour would there be IB? I think the more the better.
Back to KGJV, how hard would it be to do some of the things Makida has suggested such as a tunnel of some sort. Also is it possible to do what Turkey suggested and have deployable mines that way we could just make our own obstacles and course boundaries. While not affecting our pings at same time.
