... Probably definitely been asked before, but I'll ask anyway.

Of course as everyone knows there is a word filter on FAO as there is one on Alleg, but in Alleg there is an option to turn it off, would it be possible to implement the same thing on these forums?

And surely we could write some sort of disclaimer to warn people that they accept responsibility for the consquences of turning off the word filter etc etc before they turn it off, so that would sort out the legal issues.

(Do we even have a need for a disclaimer? After all, there isn't one on the game itself.)

Could do some sort of password for it, like the RANTS forum.

Swear filter can be turned off for any given group (i.e. Member, Supporter+, etc). But forum filters work based on the poster's group, not the readers' group.

So if someone has the posting rights to swear, then everyone can read it. Not "If someone has the reading rights to see swear words, then they can see the swear words in everyone elses' posts."

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.

And to change that would require hax, and Thal has expressly forbade hax on this board due to the cluster-$#@! the last one had become.

perhaps someone should point out to the people who make the board software that their system is a bit backwards, and then if they fix it ask thal to remember to install the updates for the board?

Most of us swear alot.

The swear filter doesn't allow for smooth reading.

Can we please have an option to see filtered words, rather than @#$@$%

I think supporters get this perk, but not everybody using this board can afford the fee.

Any chance or am I just wasting time?

The filter doesn't work like that. There is no option to see filtered words. The only way to post filtered words is to be part of a usergroup that is allowed to swear. This means everyone can see their swear words. No usergroup has this option set on, not even the admins.
