Im about to pull the rest of my hair out,
i am running xp and have started having a problem with asgs updates. what i think is happening is that when i go to sign in thru asgs it automatically checks for updates which is fine, then it does the updates and finishes then when the lobby should launch i get an error stating that only 1 instance of asgs can run at a time, i have net framework 1.1 installed and have tried to update to just 2.0 w/o sp1 thru windows update but it comes up failed installation for 4 times now, i have searched my system and removed all net framework files and allegiance files completely and reinstalled and have the same problem,
when this happens asgs will not close out on its own, i have to close it manually and it comes up not responding, when i go to task manager it shows 2 asgs running , i close them both and try again with the same results WTF?
if anyone can help please rsvp

YES i did the manual update and i have rebooted numerous times but everytime i try i get the same result. when i go back to windows update and do the express check for updates it comes up with net framework updates as suggestions and 0 download time (already downloaded just install) i do the install again and it always fails, i have tried to communicate with microsoft about the problem but they want $60. to tell me about their problem? i dont think so...... any suggestions?

Try grabbing a fresh copy... the version you've got may be corrupt.

thats part of the problem, i cant find the files that i downloaded to my system ready to install, to delete them to start over, i used search all file folders and deleted everything to do with the net framework and rebooted, then went to windows update to get another one and the failed attempt one keeps showing up, any idea where these dam things are hiding?

I'm going by memory, but I think the .Net executable is something like "dotnetfx.exe", so maybe if you did a search for "dot*.exe" you might get a hit or three.
