Has anyone tried to advertise alleg. ? Or even tried to vote for it in MMO voting pages?
I think we need more ppl since this community is quite small and if there is a influx of new ppl it could benifit the continuing of alleg (eventhough it survied for 8years and there is some increase in ppl playing) and new blood could give a boost in the community. I don't think I can do it by myself because it does cost money and the far I can do is tell ppl and vote for alleg in any voting pages that has it. I'm not making progress (about 5ppl) but I think you guys can do better. Much better.

Weve been on several game sites.

Problem is low retention of newbies + vets that go inactive tend to slow down the rise of people playing.

This is an age old argument. We currently offer cadet, the academy, as well as F1 help for newbies. There are definitely people out there who will help newbies a lot. And some more of us will help newbies if they dont annoy us and they show promise.

Alleg has a way of weeding out the weak much better than other games. Wether this is good or not i cannot tell you. The steep learning curve alone is enough to drive most people away. That is also who Alleg has a much higher average age player than most other games.

The only thing i can say for certainty, is those who stay will generally improve and can be of use on any team (just cause you can't dogfight doesn't mean you cant help your team win). And those who don't annoy the hell out of everyone are treated much better and receive much more help. If a newbie can get past the initial hill, then they are set.

Tx. I'll work on a blog for a advertisment and post good comments on this game (to reviews).

I also want to say there were some reasons not to based on the fact that this game is technically owned by Microsoft or something. not 100% sure on that though, its been a while since weve had a thread like this.

There is always a reason not to advertise for the game. At the moment it is its issue with .Net 2.0 SP1, Vista SP1 and .Net 3.5.
Until those problems (it's basically one problem) are fixed, I would not want any more attention than we already have (front page link from fileplanet is enough).

As soon as spring brings me more free time, I'll ramp up my guerilla advertisement and shilling with reviews.

At the moment we are holding pretty steady at about 830 active players on the leaderboard. I recommend using Allegiance banners on forums, writing small recommendations and of course telling your friends. The last one is one of the best methods, I think.

Trust me, after 8 years of playing, all of my friends know the game, whether they wanted to or not.
