When I first started playing in 2004, Allegiance had just emerged from its dark ages. It survived through Microsoft's dwindling support, crashguarding, cheating, and the paypal period, but only just barely. When I started playing back then, regular prime-time games maxed out at about 20-30 people. There were only six squads, and most of their rosters had less than 20 active players.

But with the release of ASGS, Allegiance had its renaissance. New players were joining and learning, new development on the game was occurring, and the community was growing. Today, we have come a long way since the dark ages of allegiance.

I remember when big games, like anniversary games, were 30 vs 30. Today 30 vs 30 is prime time on a weeknight! And big games attract well over 100 players! We have five new squads since 2004. We have 10 total, 4 more than we did back then. All those squads are active, and have an average of 30 active players. Remeber RT, that squad of completely new players and no veterans? Well now it's all veterans, and it's competitive with the best squads in allegiance. And it's happening again, with SF and SPQR. We've got the FAZ back! We even have stats and a leaderboard again. We've got tournaments and activities and an explosion of development with new factions, cores, and features.

Ladies and gentlemen, the state of Allegiance today is strong.

I think it's fitting in the aftermath of the recent drama to remind ourselves of where we've been, and where we are going. We should remember and honor all of those who have given of their resources to make all of this possible. Thanks especially to Thalgor, who has given so much, but also to all those who have donated time and money. We should remember Tigereye and BV and the rest of the admins, and Dogbones and all of the other developers. We should also remember those who have given so much in the past, like Vencain and Pook and others. There's hundreds of names of people who have contributed to make what we have today possible. We thank you for your contributions.

Let us look to the future with hope and expectancy for even better things. There is much to look forward to on the horizon, with Faz R5, and new factions, AllegSkill and new features. I appeal to the better angels of your nature to put aside your differences and work together for a better Allegiance. Though we may not always agree, let us recognize that the multiplicity of opinions is healthy and makes us strong. Let no one say that we lack ideas. But let us say that though we disagree, we will never divide, but only work together toward a better Allegiance.

I don't want that time to be a @#(!-storm of hate and schadenfreude.

Its funny... thinking back to the SOVRoute days and how fun I had back then. Those games actually sucked, and I never want to go back.

I love the community now!
