sometimes in the lobby, i see new servers go up with 1 person, then the server lobby locks, and starts with one person. i think this has something to do with the option "allow empty teams" but i cannot do it myself, and have tried multiple server locations and cores/rules.

Create your own server.
Jump on one of the teams.
Click the little circle by the other team. That will turn it off.

If there is no little circle, go into the game settings and see if "Allow empty teams" has been checked.

Usually though, "skill" is used to covertly mean "match the game exactly to my level of competence." Anyone who is at all worse than me should fail utterly (and humorously!) and anyone better is clearly too caught up in the game and their opinions shouldn't count.

It only works if you CREATE a game. You can not do this on the dedicated newbie servers, as an example.

Okay, let me continue the discussion....

Why people is starting games alone?

some days ago i've seen lobbies with 3 or 4 lone players,
im ok with people testing factions , but those guys remain hours playing lonely... why?

Some people go to movie theaters alone. Don't try to understand them, just feel sorry for them.

from what ive seen, myself...

@SPQR likes to start a game with only 1 player and have it sit for hours on end to see how much money they can get, thats it.

others go afk during a game and everyone leaves, and then they are afk on an empty server.

that covers 99.999% of the single player on a server.

Aside from testing factions, the reason I've done solo games was to figure out some of the things I didn't know. Like when I was going through the Cadet program, there were some suggestions that were made that I didn't get right off. I'd start a game, make it solo, lock the lobby, and try them out so I could have a better handle on it.

A lot of newbies that don't understand how to load their ships with weapons or other supplies will do this too so they can figure it out without somebody yelling at them to get out of the station.

It's for low pressure practice and experience so when they get into a game they know what they're doing and are looking like total idiots.

We did more than just sit around and collect money. You weren't there, so you really can't say for yourself.

(Of course, that was the original intent).

EDIT:

Did you even look at the screenshots?

Rofl! I only did that once, and Fuzz and I were competing (He won... and that was before you booted me!), and he had more than just money. He had 10 carriers, 10 miners (And I made a train with them too! Stretched across a sector and a half), everytthing researched...
