auto give people with more than 5 years of play time 0 minute ban powers
Only to boot afk coms.
if abused any other way, auto 6 month ban
no ifs ands or buts

how would giving someone a zero minute ban, I don't care who it is, for what ever reason, be deserving of a 6 month ban?
People are insane.

Why not add an automatic function to the client code, which does close the connection to server after being 5 min AFK.
"Allegiance closed connection to the server. Reason: You were 5 mins away from your PC."

hhahaha pkk there are alway 10 people afk for hours on a server. Would be funny.
I suggest a kick command. Just a kick and no lobby ban hence he could come back and play.

It's about players being AFK on a team, not on NOAT. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Isn't a 0 minutes ban the same as a kick?

Ban is ASGS side, which will close Allegiance. I'm talking about ingame, like a commander boot or better like DPlay drop to lobby.

Lots of reasons why this is not such a great idea.
Presumably Plaything's zero minute ban could be used for any reason, but should only be used for afk coms, and IF abused result in a 6 month ban of the abuser. I am assuming he suggested it be so high so people wouldn't abuse it. Like removing a com that you didn't care for which would be a blatant abuse of Plaything's proposed ability. That would warrant a pretty hefty ban. But given how easily it could be abused and that AFK is currently the only mechanism the com without game control has of preventing a game's launch this is a bad idea. Similarly an 'auto boot' by the system wouldn't work either, unless it was truly an away from keyboard indicator, which currently it is not.
A lobby #mutiny is problematic as well, it may be fine if the team does it, but likely with a real afk com, people may not be able to join the team if aa is off. Given NOAT the ability to do this is just asking for trouble /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
A few things that would work
-a 'real' afk timer that would move an afk commander to NOAT after 5 min
-an #removeafk <player> that can only be issued by commanders that would present a 'ballot' to the player that if they did not answer yes for would result in them being placed on NOAT. Currently I think ballots are only allowed after game launch. It may be easy or hard to allow ballots while in the game lobby. Making this a 'right click ability' (as YP nicely did with a number of other commands) would be a nice touch.

I think it would be a good idea to have a 'real' afk timer - Kinda like the various IM systems. You can set your status to 'away' but still do things. It'll register you as 'away' for as long as you want it to be.
However, they also have an 'idle' timer - If there has been no input to the computer from some interface device (With IMs it's Keyboard and Mouse, with Alleg it could include joystick as well) within a certain amount of time, it sets a secondary condition to 'Idle.' And as soon as there has been some input, they are no longer idle. Something like this could be used for an AFK comm - If they've been Idle for 5 minutes or more, then they'll be kicked. This would still allow them to be 'AFK' to control the game from launching, and as long as they were doing stuff they wouldn't be kicked.

Radar added an idle timer but it is pretty linked to the current AFK setting. It would have to be split out. Possible but not likely anytime soon.
