I wanted to write this yesterday but I got busy. Where I work we have a small network of a dozen computers. We have an outside IT guy who does our stuff on a PT basis. He is the IT admin for (edited out) Nice guy and "typical" IT computer nut, if there is such a thing. Awhile back he finally granted me Admin rights on my desktop and some limited rights on the server as his backup.
So he pops in our office on Wednesday afternoon and we end up chatting. Well I just happened to have a chat log pulled up I was reviewing and one thing led to another. It turns out he is one of the main admins for another small gaming website and game. I won't name it to protect his identity because I know for a fact we have players in Alleg in that game. (We actually discussed a few). This game has been around for awhile.
We both started laughing our asses off when we realized what we did and we have known each other for a year and had no clue. I ended up giving him a backdoor tour of our community and game. I got a quick one of his site too. (Even still, he wiped all log in material off my computer after we were done /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> )
Our game and community histories are very very similar. It was amazing to see the same type issues and how they dealt with them. Newbs, cheats, forums, clan issues, etc. The one huge glaring difference was how the admin structure was set up. We ended up spending the entire afternoon discussing issues and how they were handled. I gave him a copy of a great article that TE had sent me recently about admin'ing a game site/community.
He was absolutely blown away by our structure and controls. I was offered a huge bribe for ASGS. It made me really understand we owe a huge debt for the creation of ASGS and what it does for us. Like he said, it would instantly eliminate 70% of all of his issues. The second mind boggling feature to him was the Zone Leads & @Allegs. He could not even begin to express his amazement over Cadet or ACS and the Academy.
I explained how TE and I share the load under Pook. Then the ZL's and how they run their sections. They have nothing really like it. I showed him our discussions in here. He told me that he is going to try to figure out how he can use it. They have some limited enforcement tools.
My point of this post is to make sure to tell you folks in here how much I do appreciate you. We think we have issues here in our community. We have nothing compared to a few others. I just wanted to pat you guys on the back for a job well done. You made me look like a superhero in this guy's eyes and really all I do is sit back and let you guys do the grunt work. My conversation with him really made me aware of how good we do have it here.

(Oh, I am trying my hardest to get him to download and install. He told me he could already see this was the "Crack" of the gaming world!)
