This is more of an annoucement and opinion stance. This issue has been around for a bit, but not that big of a deal. Lately we have seen more of it. So hence this post.

The Tactic: Someone launches in a bomber in a back sector and raises and lowers their signature to spam the other team with "Bomber Sighted" messages. This is a valid tactic. I think at one time or another most squads have used it in a squad game as a decoy move.

The Issue: Is a few folks have been doing this in pickup games for one reason only. Pure annoyance of the other team.

The Current Solution: This is an area that the @Alleg do not wish to get involved with at this time. I leave it to you, the commanders, to handle this. If you have someone doing this with the only intent to annoy the other team. Please stop them. You the commander know whether it is a legitimate decoy move or just plain annoyance. I leave the responsibility on your shoulders (and your team) for now.

By the community being made aware of the problem I hope the few individuals will stop it. We will be monitoring this to see if the issue escalates. If it does, well then I guess I have to step into a gray area and deal with it. At this point the @Allegs will not get involved other than monitoring the situation.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Hrmm.. in all my games I have only seen it done a few times. Waste of a time to annoy people I would think.

Plus it makes your fingers hurt!

Not to mention that it is also unsportsmanlike and a tad churlish. Thank God it is a rare event in Allegiance. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

Shiz was giving eye to a miner repeatedly the other week, I wanted to hunt him down and kill him, but he was in an unshielded bios scout.

I told Defiance, who does this often, that I was going to talk to the admins about this... I kinda forgot about the whole thing in the excitement of the game, but this reminds me =P

My opinion is that it is no different whatsoever from spamming a voicechat. It isn't some brilliant tactic, it's exploiting a game mechanic. Please stop. If somebody on my team when I am in command does this, I'm gonna go ahead and boot you without warning... it's a stupid, unsportsmanlike annoyance that I don't think should be tolerated.

I really think this needs to be classified under "spamming" and should be dealt with in the same way somebody spamming "Yeee-haaaa" for 5 minutes would be dealt with - an autoban. I see no real distinction between the two, other than one is caused by pressing a different button than the other. Just because the "enemy" team is the only one hearing the alert doesn't make it any less worthy of the "spam" tag. We're all friends here, and just because we're playing on different teams doesn't mean we want to disrupt each other's game experience by creating voice chat spam. If you want to annoy the other team, start blowing up their bases or killing their miners... do something that actually takes some skill rather than something that takes only a really obnoxious mentality.

edit:

Scaring a miner by making yourself visible is not spam and is a good tactic IMO... the only thing that bugs me is somebody sitting in there home shooting their guns every 3 seconds in order to get eye and send a voicechat to the other team. It serves no purpose other than to annoy the other team, and not in that "they're beating me" sort of way.

How do you hunt down an unshielded bios scout with no pps?

No, I'm not going to waste my time hunting somebody down to pod them because they are exploiting a game feature. Should I hunt somebody down repeatedly and kill them because they are spamming "Yeee-haaa?" The time it takes for them to dock will stop them from spamming!!!

Sorry, no. It's an exploit and I will not be told otherwise =)
