My first games playing were great. Good players who saw I was new, helped, answered questions, fairly even teams. Great people who helped me learn to stealth bomb, who dogfight prac'd with me, let me put into practice all the academy info I'd taken days to read and absorb so I could be a GOOD starting player.
Apparently that was a fluke.
I -was- interested in playing this game. Get some new blood in, make for more servers not the... wow... whole 1 single server the game attracts now.

With comments like the above apochb. "not my fault you're a noob", as a reason why a vet would join the 2-3 vet team 1/2 way through the game giving us 3 cadets and 2 newbs no chance. Adam, etc. Sure I'm new, but I'm good at space sims, and was willing to make the effort to learn the game and bring some friends in. ChuckNoris .. a classic there "enjoy quitting the game" why would allegiance NEED any new players, the vets are just SO GOOD might as well ban all newbs. only keep vets. till the vets move on or are too busy. so less vets. and less. hey wait.... no vets? no game? hey maybe not such a good idea?
"Damn stacked games suck, hey it'd be great to have more than 1 game/server with enough players at once, oh but wait... hell that team has more newbs, better join the team with the vet, I dont want to lower my score."

For a game that made note of the one time 180 players were on at one time, I'd have thought ANY new players would be welcomed.
Thanks to pook and the cadet team, the only reason I havent quit yet. Certainly not the players I've been encountering lately. Keep putting newbs down. Keep joining the vet side so you dont lose. "I need more command wins". Go down in alleg history as the reason 95% of the genuine new players QUIT who WOULD get better and be fun to play with, who WOULD increase the player base, each one bringing more friends along.
I read all the academy info. I joined cadet. I had some good days, some bad days playing (only because of players never the game, which rocks).

Imagine a day when you vets could always play with all your friends, who you knew how to play, where you could plan strategy and be a real TEAM, where you could always get in a game, where there was a CHOICE of games all running over more than 1 server at a time. Where more than just the noir core was played if you felt like variety. With a 50-150 online player base its just not going to happen.

Heres a thought, you see 2 teams, one has all newbs, one has some vets. SURE you might lose on the newb team, and it might hurt your score a little, but hey ... the game is in your hands, lose your players and you'll be boasting of your score, getting the respect for your skills from ... wait ... no one. Start BEING NICE to new players, making them WANT to keep playing... or gg allegiance.

/sorry for the rant. I'm just left disappointed by the attitudes I encountered today and the last few weeks I've tried to play and learn to be a better player. I'm sure the above mentioned players arent trying to kill off alleg, it just looks like it from the 20+ other new players I've now met, talked to, and seen quit from attitudes like that since I found this great game. Alleg has lost probably 100 new players just in these last few months. If the community doesnt start to come together and welcome new players, it will stagnate and die. Simple fact of life.

It is a sad truth that there are some people who play this game with a total disregard for new players or anyone else for that matter. These people are seemingly not interested in the fun of others or helping to keep this game, that they claim to like, alive.

However, the whole community is not made solely of this type of player. Some of us try our best to balance the stack where we can and help out new people. The other pilots in this game are people too and if the game is balanced it is fun for as many people as possible. Fun games encourage more people to play which in turn should lead to better gameplay all round as the new players become vets.

QuickZip, you've had some bad experiences and I sympathise with you but all I can say is that we don't all try to ruin the game for other people and that there are many people here who dedicate a lot of time to keeping this game running. I hope that you stick with Allegiance because it is worth it and you are exactly the kind of new player that we need. Cadet will help as will all the reading you've been doing. My advice to you is to stick with it and try to see the good side of the community past the bad side.

Lastly if you think that any of the behaviour you've encountered counts as newbie hostility then PM BlackViper on these forums and he'll look into it and disiplin the offenders if needs be.

Well, that makes one of us.

Also, the names you mentioned aren't really a surprise in this context. Is that in itself indicative of a problem? Most probably, yes.

I am sorry to perpetuate this topic as one thing we don't need is animosity in the community, but to QuickZip and any new players out: you are not defenseless or helpless to any injustice you might get. BV and the @Alleg are constantly on the lookout in the servers and will promptly heed your case. (as Raveen said)Nontheless, the one important thing to remeber is that it is natural to have short tempered people or jerks in this community as in every community and the best way to handle it is to rub it off and carry on having your fun your way. Afterall the most important thing Alleg teaches you is patience. And that might probably be the reason why the majority of newbies are quitting the game.

why do new players always complain about one insult, or one boot, maybe one ban...seriously, before posting crap like this, please read the other topics and see where it went...

Hey man, good to see there are still those same people that love teaching, however the world isnt full of nice people obviously.

Ill say 80% of the community has helped a specific newb at one point, 60% allrounder newb friendly, 20% alltime newb teachers (ie CDT). But these people also have bad days and get negative at times. Cant change humanity fact or whatever it called.

Stick around longer cause i see you already put a good image of yourself. =]

But its not just vets. Some newbs arent friendly as well which probably turned some sweet players to bitter.

Agreed moses, I find the voobs to be more hostile to the new players. I don't think there are any super hostile vets left(i miss tallon).

And everyone knows that every other multiplayer game on the internet is just welcoming and great to new players. If your not willing to take your lumps as the stupid noobie, you will never enjoy any multiplayer game.
