Ok. We're still running for this february month, maybe ImmZ can save the day (even tho we're 600 behind now), but let's forget this month and start over. Just, much more smartly.

If I'm correct, we already have some voting machines ready. All we need to do is, improve them a bit.

Instead of having the machine blindly press "Vote!", check what position Allegiance is in. If Allegiance is tied for 2nd or worse [1], vote. If Allegiance is solo 2nd or 1st, don't.

This way we'll likely always be between 2nd/3rd position with little or none human intervention. We'll constantly have great visibility. Humans can still vote Alleg to 1st place, but voting machines won't be helping.

Of course, this also means only who runs those voting machines will proxy voting or else. All others -- one vote per day /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

What do you think?

[1] How to check that? If you can find "2 Allegiance" or "1 Allegiance" in the page....

That's the target of my idea. We forget the idea, but still get to #2/#3.

BV is damn right when he speaks of 90% of the community being in write only mode.

Your idea is to do something at that site, mine is to play supreme commander or something.

Read only for certain. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

If you do it again in March, good luck and many happy returns. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

My idea too is to go doing something else as the machine does the hard work for us. Computers are meant to do this after all. /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />

I don't think I'll bother, actually. R3 and word of mouth are working well enough to pick up more newcomers... we've had more in the last two weeks than we have had for years. No biggie if we get some site to add a few more.

problem is, when the machine is voting, it cant really be used for anything else.

if you have a spare machine that can be left on all the time or most of the day each day (preferably one with an internet connection which uses dynamic IP) then i could give you a script to keep us at number 2 (or rather a vote or so behind number 1)

Mine was just an idea, Madp.

My connection is far too unstable to host that. -- As in, there are *days* where I'm left with none.

Guess why?

My method leaves without Internet while it's running. It also pisses off my family when they want to use the computer or the Internet. Call me when you need 600 votes and thats it. I can't do continuous monitoring. Sorry.
