Autobalance or Elo

i think i just commanded 2 of the worst games, EVER, all thanks to autobalance and elo.

something needs to be done. I look at my team, and see random voobs nuubs and a small spattering of vets. I look at the other team, and see a very nice lineup of good and respectable and squaded players. first game was nice and stacked against me, the 2nd game, didnt even count!

Autobalance fixes stacking = not really
Elo is accurate = LOL

dont ever ask me to use them again.

It is kinda weird. One turns on autobalance and the game ends with a stack that does not count. How is that even possible?

Yes, it happens to me too. Equal number of pilots for both teams (10 Vs 10 almost till the end) and ELO ended up as ~0.8 Vs 0.2

Very strange.

How does autobalance work when pilots leave? For example, if AB is on and game starts close to even, with Team A being ahead by 5 points, and then one or two vets leave Team A, will AB recognize that teams are now imbalanced?

PsycHosis, what were the particulars of your games? Did teams rank evenly at the start, but in truth were imbalanced? Was it something else that happened during the game?

Autobalance cannot work unless it has the power to "enforce" a balance, I.E Removing players from games when the other team loses a vet. The autobalance system is flawed. Giving a team 3+ people advantage is not balance.

Lets throw another arbitrary hypothesis into the pot :-)
I say it might be that AB uses Ranksums and the 'Game Counts' algorithm uses AllegEloRating.
For most players his Rank would be a rounded AllegEloRating/100.
Yet for newbies the Rank is 0 and the AllegEloRating is 1500
(afaik... pipe up if ye know better =])

This would cause a massive scewing of the perceived AllegEloTeamRatings when differently ranked newbies are on both teams

Another cause might be that if a team that is likely to loose delays this loss by not resigning then any high rated players that join will still even the perceived AllegEloTeamRatings but not give the loosing side an equal chance of winning. (due to Allegiance's slippery slope design paradigm)

Another problem might be the unranked players /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I'm a rank 15 only because I haven't played enough games. I could be a rank 8 or 25 after playing a couple more games...

Im clueless, there are 2 things in the settings window Balance = Auto and Stats On/Off which control what and in which combination are they to be set when you wish to use the Godly power of ELO during a game??

I couldn't join a team that was down 3 players the other day because of "auto"...so I left.

Balance to 'Auto' and Stats Count to 'On'

But the Godly power of Elo is only unlocked with infinite game records and everyone in the community playing everyone else regularily.

But by switching both to 'on' you will help the system to collect Data so that at least its mundane powers are unlocked over time =]
