Salutations! My name is JAW, and I am joining your community. (Actually I have been playing for about two days now, but did not join the forum.) Anyway, just thought I would greet you guys semi-formally. I plan to be here for a looooong time... In fact, I am joining the Cadet Program.

I have three questions:

1. When does the next session of the CP start?

2. Can players make there own squads? (I'm planning on when I'm like rank 25 to make my own. That would make me a General in my ranking system that I made up... I would post the name that I plan to use but someone would probably steal it... LOL)

3. What is the MAX rank one can get?

one started last week or so, you may be able to join that, i think its every 4 weeks now is it?

Hi. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

QUOTE 1. When does the next session of the CP start?
You have 3 weeks or so to wait.

QUOTE 2. Can players make there own squads? ...
AllegAge = sqrt(days*2) Where days is the number of unique days logged in (each day logged in counts as 1 unique day).

Code: Select all

AllegAge 1 = 01 unique day       AllegAge 10 = 046 unique days
AllegAge 2 = 02 unique days     >AllegAge 15 = 106 unique days<
AllegAge 3 = 04 unique days      AllegAge 20 = 191 unique days
AllegAge 4 = 07 unique days      AllegAge 25 = 301 unique days
AllegAge 5 = 11 unique days      AllegAge 30 = 435 unique days
We'll see your squad then in 1-3 years depending on your activity. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I think we may have changed the AllegAge thing, can't remember, something about changing unique days to # of games x10, or something... if we did it's still about right for activity.

I'd rather wait than be a week behind.

The first week is more of an orientation, the meat starts in week 2. Also all the reading material is left up, so you can just reread it while working through week 2. You won't really be missing anything.
Apparently a California "cabin" is any place more than 4 blocks from a McDonalds.

It's not that bad J_A_W as jg portrays it /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Currently rank is only age based, as we are gathering data for the ranking algorithm which will in the future determine your rank. The rank will both be based on the account's age, as well as on your performance in game. The "real" rank should soon be in effect and to learn more about it, search the forums.

Truth be told, you don't have to be of rank 25 to start your own squad. There are many reasons one would want to form a squad, one of them having a group of friends you enjoy flying with. Since I assume you are after competitive game play, still no worries. There are several people with age rank in the range of 10 - 13 who are real vets, much better than some of the guys with rank 20+.

Alleg is a game with an extremely steep learning curve though, and you will get as much out of this experience as you put into it. And you can get a lot. IMHO alleg is the best online game I have ever played, hence I'm still here /mrgreen.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="mrgreen.gif" />.

If you consider learning that game and climbing up the skill ladder so quickly, I would encourage you to hop on team speak (something I should have done a long time ago...) and drop Dengaroth a line and ask him if you could join this cadet session. It's much better to join one week late than to have to wait 3 weeks if you are that motivated to learn the game. I'm not sure if @cadets accepts late joiners, but it is definitely good to talk to Denga nonetheless.

I hope that your willingness to become a better pilot is genuine and I hope that you didn't become discouraged away from your plans to start your own squad sometime in the future. BTW. you can start your informal squad any day and than see how things go for you from than. Hooking up with equally motivated people from your cadet class and flying together would probably be a great thing to do.

take care,
DW

I don't care how long it takes me. As you said, this game is the best you have played, as is mine.
I guess I could start an informal squad... The Universal Astro-Force (UAF) There! I called the name! LOL
Well, if you say all I have to do is read the old posts for week one, sign me up! I don't know how to get on the CP forum though...

When you get added to the program, you will see it on this site. It's hidden to non-members /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

DW @cadet routinely accepts pilots in the first week, who can say about exceptions, they being exceptions.

Starting up a squad is pointless until you have a large group of veteran pilots.

Whichever, I don't much care. I always support the idea of more squads, though the only one recently that has a shot is that red phoenix group, them and their "many heads of state" at least could legislate people to play. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
