I'm a voob and have been playing allegiance off and on for almost two years now. Right now I'm using mouse+keyboard controls, and am considering getting a joystick/throttle combo, mostly for Alleg (though I do play a few other games that could benefit as well). It seems like there should be a few people here familiar with the joysticks on the market, so I thought I'd solicit advice here.
-What are good stick/throttle combos for Alleg? I'm looking for under $100. I'd prefer to spend $20-50 if there are attractive sticks at that price range, but am willing to spend more if the more expensive products truly have better price/performance ratio.
-If the stick and throttle I buy are separate components, will Alleg recognize them both?
-Along the same lines, has anyone had any success with getting pedals to work with Alleg?
I'm looking at the Saitek X52 specifically. Is it worth the $100? Just because I can spend that much doesn't mean I want to; are there attractive budget options?
Thanks.
Good sticks/throttles for alleg?

The X52 was worth every penny to me. It works well, the programming software is very good and it is just really fun to fly with.
The only thing I had to change in Alleg was how the throttle mapped. This took a few seconds to do. Other then that, it has been a great joy to use.

I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

My apologies.
You can... just press the 0/insert button on your mousepad to toggle back and forth.minigun wrote:QUOTE (minigun @ Dec 25 2006, 01:29 PM) It would be nice if you could use a joystick for flying, then switch to a mouse for turreting.

May be getting the X52 setup myself soon. Word of warning to MS Sidewinder users, MS quit supporting those units at WinNT. If you upgrade to a machine running XP or newer, it may not work. I just went to XP64 and can no longer use my Sidewinder 3D Pro. XP drivers don't exist for it, or at least not that I've been able to locate.
