*work in progress*

Since our last *guide* died with the old forum, I took the time to write a little manual for our core-development tool /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Click on a chapter to get to the content.

When this is complete, it will definitely find its way into the Knowledgebase.

Looking forward to it, Hawkwood!

If you need any reminders on what various items mean, I can probably remember some of it. I know I read the old ICE topic several dozen times looking for various bits of information.

I'd be happy to assist as well. I still remember enough to be dangerous /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> lol

what i want to know

accuracy in ICE for guns. the biggest value i ever see is 1

though looking at those weapons, i get the feeling that "1" is actuallt an angle from the midlde of the gun.
the angle is measured in radians.

so a gun with accuracy of 1, bullets will fly anywhere in a cone like this:

i'm just wondering if i am right in thinking this, and wether, if you made a gun with an accuracy of 3.14 wether it would shoot omnidirectionally (roughly)
or wether you would just crash instead.

i would try it my self, but i havnt figurred out how the new server works for local testing - dont know how to change cores etc now. was the reg settings only if your running it as a service?

MadP, have a look at the Flak Batteries in EoR 6a, they have a very large spread and may give you some clues until someone who knows can chime in.

appears you can have values greater than 1.

i guess it is in radians offset from the front

now, more interesting for me, can we have values greater than pi, and would that allow you to have more shots directed backwards...

soo... i can make my plasma mines omni directional.. i think

edit:
spread of 3.14 :

it would appear the spread is not as in my pic above, but is actually half what i have in my post above. a spread of 1 bives a angle of 1 rad from 1 edge of the cont to the other, not from the middle to the edge.

edit:
accuracy for guns (and i guess probes) seems to effect how the bullets get despursed
low numbers they mainly get shot infront of you, big numbers they mainly all shoot off at 90 degrees to the center of your hud.

you cannot have omni directional weapons, unless you use 2 guns, and give one a negative speed for the particle
