Hi all!
I'm playing allegiance since 2 days and it's fun!
I have to admit that i didnt discover allegiance recently, but in reality i encountered it back 2 times!
- in 2003, cause i was in an Xwing vs Tie Fighter Italian team and, as some of you may know, xvt uses directplay. In that period i had just changed telephone carrier and my internet conn ended in a NAT network, preventing Xvt from running online. Looking for replacements, i found allegiance too, but unluckily was running on directplay too, so unable to use it.
- in 2005/2006 (dont remember the exact date) microsoft decided to purge pratically everything of what remained of the old MSN Gaming Zone (how many Age of empires games i had played there...). Some people of the old Xvt community organized a sort of "online protest" in the last days of the service and i went there too for "solidarity". But being still under a nat network, was unable to use Xvt, so i looked again for replacements, and reecountered allegiance again, still with the same direct play problem.
Luckily a few months ago, i changed again my telephone carrier and now im no more in a NAT network.
So it ended up that i have again refound allegiance somehow on youtube, and here i am!
A nice thing about allegiance is that it looks like it has more "depth" then Xvt, that was mostly a team deathmatch.
Coming from a background of RTSs and Racing sims having to "study" for playing isnt a problem at all.
(apart from finding the time...)
Btw, a few questions:
- I'm using for piloting an old "Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3d" usb joystick without FF and the keyboard. Seemed to me btw that most users are using mouses online.
Any suggestion for joystick users? (im already using dxtweak2 for adjusting calibration)
- Does FF makes a difference here? (in racing sims with racing wheels is absurdly important, in many games with joypads is pratically useless)
- Is there any Italian pilot around?
- Is there an ingame way for saving replays? (not fraps)
