Hi and welcome!

I don't know about those games, but yeah, skill, teamplay AND situational awareness are key elements of the game. Reading is good and encouraged. You should also jump into the game and play to get a feel for what all that reading theory actually means in context.

Also - grab Teamspeak2 (not 3) and join us on our TS server. You can learn much more quickly when you can ask a question in context of the game. We also offer @AFS and @CDT training courses. It's recommended that you sign up for @AFS, then move on to @CDT when you're ready.

No idea how long I will last, but the Learning Curve graphic intrigued me. Been 2Clueless for many years (but the name filter refused it, so Clueless I will be) and probably will be for many more. However, I am reading as much material as I can find before I actually step into the game, looks interesting. Kinda like Natural Selection and Homeworld hybrid, with an emphasis on team play and skill, would that be fair summation?
Just expect to be a little lost for a while. Work with the team and you'll do fine.

Allegiance is worth all the hassle. I honestly believe its the best game on the net. Welcome aboard

I have briefly played Natural Selection - yes this game is in a similar mould to that, our games tend to take longer & the teams are bigger though. And obviously it's a space sim, not a FPS :)

Hey all FA players, I hope to one day finish reading all of the AFS start up manual stuff, rules, and gameplay stuff, and begin playing, hopefully remembering a slither of what I have read to help me get started on my way to this seemingly very unique, epic, not mindless/boring game that is generously provided free of charge.

Ciao,

~Weylin~

P.S. I accidently posted my introduction here.

Hi all, I am new to this...

Played nethack for a few years, and this seems similar. Alas, it seems nothing is the same.

Back to being a twink xD. I have signed up for the @AFS, but any advice or help would be appreciated.

I want to learn and stay with the community... I also have quite a bit of programming experience, from C++, Pearl, Pascal, and C#. If any coding needs to be done... drop a few lines my way.

Sincerely,

dryrain
