As much as I am sure I would like Joomla if I played around with it - wordpress for just the homepage will capture everything we need.
Basically the face of our game - freeallegiance.org is one static image that has not changed in years. No major website stays the same every day/week/month/year.
Once we get the website changed - we will start spending resources (time and money) to promote the $#@! out of the game through every outlet we can think - and this will be a major effort that every remaining community member will be an integral part of.
If we have 100 players, and each of us brought one other human being to the game and taught them to play and enjoy the game, we would instantly double our player base. that means 15 v 15s would turn into 30 vs 30, and those are fun games.

Joomla is pretty much the same as WordPress. It's really not a difference worth switching platforms over.

Same as usual. 4000 ideas come up. Discussion continues for weeks. 1% gets accomplished.
What we need is this from you Dome.

QFT
If anybody actually wants to
work on something to save Alleg instead of sit in here and debate over whose idea sucks more, head over to the marketing forum.

You couldn't be more wrong Hunter.
The thread topic is "Allegiance would be fine if you did...."
Let me set you all straight on something, Allegiance will never be fine because of someone's idea being implemented because those ideas are always changing. The problem isn't a lack of an idea or direction or wtf ever, the problem is that we are no longer a community and those who are "in charge" run this thing like they own it.
Nobody wants to work or promote something that they have been rejected from participating in. The Admins ran everyone off and played one party against the other while the damn thing died. Yes, it died. Maybe you missed the funeral. The only ones left to deal with this stench are now asking for your help to continue to promote the thing they abuse.

Ever the pessimistic are you?
We are still a community, because someone still loves this game.
Need I remind that TE is chipping in money monthly to get this boat, since Pook left in 2006?
Now personally, no matter how little my "power" is, I want to keep Allegiance afloat a while longer.
You are welcome to join in, and you are of course entitled to your own opinion.

I'm not being pessimistic, I'm being realistic. The facts confirm my observations. Dispute them if you can.
TE isn't chipping in anything. He is getting his hosting for free. The reason he keeps control of it is so that he can.....have control of it.
If you want to keep Allegiance "afloat", you'd better raise it from the sea bed first.
I am not welcomed to join in, neither are you or anyone else. Just try to "join in" and see what happens.

30 v 30 is a cluster$#@! (been there played it). Game sizes shouldnt be larger than 20 vs 20. Getting more players is a good way, but also vets will need to start to abandon the idea of a SINGLE MAIN GAME.
Right now, we should be focusing on getting rid of Microsoft. Then we will have many paths open to explore into getting more players.
Also, this community atm need to be the least toxic as possible.

So in other words. The game will continue to be run by debate team champions from all over the world. Great.... It has been so much fun for everyone so far.
There is time for democracy and time for shut the hell up and just do it.

Not sure what's funnier about your post Archy, this:

I lean towards the second just because I love the idea of a plucky band of Allegiance forum users getting rid of the company Microsoft XD Obviously that's not what you meant, just where my mind went when I read it.
