Call me when you find a Linksys router that doesn't get you 10 ms of bonus latency to everything and has static DHCP, mmkay?

I :iluv:ed my Netgear but this D-Link isn't too bad.

NP. Obviously our experiences are different. I had two Linksys routers - the so-called good ones before Cisco bought them out and dumbed them down - both are bricks after a few years service. The D-links I've tried are still going strong.

Thanks Notjarvis, I'll do my best to make it!
Another thing - A bit of randomizing on the forum brought me to a post about a Balkan team - is there one yet? Who is the most active player of the bunch?

Cheers

Heh, hello there.

There is no Balkan team but there are some players from the Balkans. Balkanians that I know of: Snack, TheSerb, stresed, exer, SRM_Osijek, Mordechaj, could be more but I forgot... oh and me :)

All others are just wannabe Balkanians :P

Have fun in game.

Hello All,

Another new player here. I read the cadet material and I think I have the basics of flight and navigation well in hand. Unfortunately, being a decent pilot isn't worth much if you're never in the right sector and this is where I'm hoping to get some advice from the cadet program.

I often encounter a scenario where I decide it would be useful for me to do something, for example miner D. So yawn and try to stay awake while following a miner around only to hear that a Con is under attack somewhere else! I go there to try to defend the con, but it's already either dead or building by the time I get there, and now the miner that I left is under attack!

In reading the forums, it seems that this community has little patience for that kind of incompetence so I hope to shed it quickly.

In all MP games I play, I enjoy joining the losing team even if it's a futile effort, sort of an anti-statwhore. It can be frustrating but those few times that you can save the day make it all worthwhile! So all you losers out there, keep the faith, I'm on my way

I figure, if I'm on miner D, I stay on Miner D. Way I figure, if I left Miner D, I'll prolly be too late to the con, and the Miner is now wide open. If we lose the con, we still have a miner. So eh...

Welcome Magilla. You (and viksa) are in the AFS course now.

Check in here. And read around the rest of the forum to get into it....

Welcome, Magilla. In general, I suggest sticking with what you're doing, and practice reading the minimap when there's no real action going on around you. Unless there's a teleport reciever right next to whatever's under attack, you're unlikely to make it in time to make a difference anyway. Most likely there's other members of your team over there defending the con, so trust in them and just stick with what you were already protecting in case it gets attacked next.

Regarding which team to join, it's preferred for new players to join the winning team so veterans can join the losing team and balance it out. If the teams are even and a newbie joins the losing team, then the losing team has more people, meaning the next person who joins has to join the winning team even if they're a vet. Don't worry too much about stack, but in general if one team has a bunch of newbies on it and the other team doesn't, you should join the one that doesn't.
