You run into this with any game too. Big problem is that there is not as much new blood coming in as you see in other games. Partly due to its age tbh
I'm sorry I don't remember any of it. For you the day spideycw graced your squad with utter destruction was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Sunday

But this bears repeating:

The numbers problem is a direct result of people not coming in. There is no question about this - don't get distracted by "player retention" etc. This has always been a rich game with a steep learning curve, for every 5 signups we are lucky if we keep 1, so we need a lot of sign-ups.

But they are not happening. The main reason for this is the promotional activities we had going on in 2007 are no more. We have zero social network presence, for example. And it's a chicken-egg problem, the fewer players, the fewer promoters.

CronoDroid wrote:QUOTE (CronoDroid @ May 17 2012, 06:22 PM) So if I have any ideas to make this game more competitive, it would be to make it more like other contemporary games. The downtime between games is an issue - lobby chatroom (rather than match chat rooms). The ability to spectate games. Persistent rewards, like skins, medals, achievements, etc. Fancy leaderboards within the in-game interface. Embedded guides within the game itself (recommended load-outs, checklist of tasks on the HUD, stronger tool tips, tips of the day, etc). A lot of people don't know faction stats, they're not easily obtainable within the game itself and you have to go to the wiki to find out. A feature on the faction select panel that lists a faction's stats, and maybe even strategies would be really awesome.

I know these are just pipe dreams, and I don't know how to code so I wouldn't be able to help. But if a bunch of wiz coders ever got around to doing this, Allegiance could become competitive again.
If we could make a stat for 1 v 1 development using a LARGE map so 2 comms can compete for how long they can develop resources on a map, that would give them reason to keep a game running all the time. This would allow players to join and dev into a real game, but even if it stays slow, the competition would be to stay at the map and suck up more sectors and resources than the other guy.

alternatives yes, wait time, absolutely not. Bottom line is new guys want to play and learn and frolic etc but when they have to wait for 15 20 minutes between games they get put off. Hell I get put off.

Our biggest problems are terrible website design and and an inactive admin.

Let me start with the most important issue. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is critical to a website being found online. Not even the most basic SEO needs have been taken care of on freeallegiance.org. I do web development for small businesses and most new customers come from Google. Without any SEO performed on our website, hardly any new players will discover Allegiance.

I could go into detail about SEO and why else our website is preventing potential players from finding Allegiance, but I have long given up. It is too difficult to get anything done here. With an admin who is never around and puts zero effort anymore into community growth, we are doomed.

or its all this tard who say I hostage the game when I wanna just launch a game fast.

And when the alleg ingame ban me cause "I hostage the game" cause they prefer listen voob who never come than me.

Maybe boot them all ?

Edit : I dont say that for break the debate so :

AEM is right, we need a new website more attractive

Brood are right too, we need a system for elect new comm for new game. If no one of "great comm" wanna comm and dont present theirself, other who want comm could without be harass and booted for "hostage the game".

Elect comm and random pick up team. Every team would have 5 minutes for trade some player, and boot player who want be only in one team or not play

Edit from Edit : Alien, the last time I see you play, you would kill miner when you could do something better. maybe try to find better priority with the conjonctural game, and It would change your gameplay. This game dont resume to kill ennemy miner and def yours :)

There is nothing magical about the freeallegiance.org domain really that says it should be the sole entry point. Any website could promote the game and then link to the forums and the wiki.

Well, I guess the non-public forums are still a problem.

Yea, with all of the games and all of the websites that want first place on Google, where could we hope to start? Everyone with $$ is doing it, so my opinion is that our only hope is gaming/forum/download sites. AEM, correct me please because we are trying to take the load off of TE and BV so they can have lives like the rest of us.
