No. And besides that, whore-until-resign can very well be a tactical decision. You can have a game on lockdown with your team dedicated to whoring, and spending money on whore-tech instead of game-ending tech; you could also buy game-ending tech instead of better whoring tech, dedicate a bunch of players to trying to kill/cap a base, fail, and end up losing the game because you were wasting manpower trying to kill/cap bases that you didn't need to bother with.
QUOTE Are you trying to be Grav the 2nd?[/quote]
If you paid any attention you'd know that Grav and his "style" of gameplay offend me on a molecular level.
Grav doesn't "whore until resign" he "turtles until sbs".
they are very different.
edit: that's because I edited my post while you were responding to it
mod should probably split our derailment into its own thread
"Are commanders obligated to finish a game?"

Ah but then the commander is still trying to win. Going Gauss means you've prob spent the entire game turtling to get that tech as GT have no issues finishing with Armoured HTT. Sure whore them up all you like and get more whore tech to finish them. That's cool. Whoring to make them resign is fine so long as you're progressing in the whoring department and not just waiting. If they wont resign and you've got a base in their garr sector and you've got it fully camped then yes I would say it is the commanders decision to bomb the base. IIRC you and most of XT rage quit a SG because you thought the other team were just dicking about too much instead of just finishing it.

Agreed. As per my points above, so long as you're progressing its fine. If you have mini3 hvy ints and you've had them for ages and they've no miners, basic tech and you've pushed adv cons into all their sectors there is no need for a tac + stuff for gauss. You would finish with HTTs or bombers else you're a dickhead who is just trying to be a dickhead.
edit: I know, hence I edited my post to respond to your change.
True, I guess we did just go off on one

My idea of "progressing" is getting mini3 heavy ints, then a sup for booster/hull upgrades, then a sy for ship speed upgrades.

I don't remember the specifics of the game you're referring to, but assuming that's accurate, I'm sure "rage-quitting XT" did not post on the forum "Y SQUAD FORCED US TO RAGEQUIT BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T FINISH THE GAME LIKE THEY'RE OBLIGATED TO!!! /CRY"

Not very good commanding then

actually it was "you're were dicking about" which is kinda the same thing don't you think?

I'd think you've been in XT long enough to know that whenever we lose, we yell at ourselves for sucking (which sometimes lately has been closely linked with many important key people not showing up)
Barring extreme circumstances where half a team drops at once or such nonsense-
When XT loses, it's XT's fault
not the core
not the server
not "we picked the wrong faction"
not the heart of the cards
not "the other team was dicking about"
If there is some such post that could be interpreted as an XT member suggesting that a commander is obligated to finish a game, please cough it up
players dropping from a game we'd lost != making the above statement

It was more like "i got other things to do on a sunday afternoon/night/monday morning than waiting another 2 hours for the game to end, bye".

I'll just ask virulence then. A good commander wouldn't you say? That the commanders role is to win as effectively as he can? To make sure they dominate and finish the enemy switfty? The fact that you would extend a game just for e-peens sake is not a strat, it's bad commanding. And even if the commander isn't "required" to do it, they should be. As its a punk thing to do.
I thought XT had more balls than to feel they need to whore on an enemy team for 1 hour after they could finish it?
(i'll try to find the game I'm thinking of, I can't quite remember who it was against so it makes it harder)

Exactly sum. So you're in agreement

Given that nobody wants 5 hours PUG games, all tech sufficiently advanced has to be a game ender.
For base killing tech that's clear: you use it, you win.
For other tech, it should be expected to crush defensive efforts versus regular base killing tech.
Now, if you want to punish whoring around with non base killing game ender tech, you have to make it so it doesn't hamper the enemy's economy so much.
Hence you may put a price tag per load, or make it useless versus drones. But nerfing the firepower is wrong if it is meant to overpower defense and win the game ASAP.

No... just make sure commanders don't dick about, if your commander is, then mutiny

That would never happen. A team being whored mercilessly is likely to resign in under 10 minutes.
But besides that, don't think I speak for XT on this. I'm just a sadist that likes to punish my enemies just for the sake of them being my enemies. Most of XT does not share this trait.
Yes, it's a punk thing to do. and I am that punk. Yet I am not obligated to finish a game, and if people don't like it they'll know better than to fly against me (or for me, depending). It's my choice.

I do remember leaving that game, though I don't remember who were playing, either.
