I do not support topless women. The very word topless implies that something is missing from them. It's like saying that you support master-less blacks, when you really mean you support their freedom. I do not support the implication that women should have a top on, I support the idea that women should be unrestricted by the patriarchal imposition of shirts. That's right. I do not support women's toplessness.

I support women's topfreedom!

The Feminist movement was all about women getting on top anyway /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

I have found exactly one internet/geek/gamer girl in real life. Immediately I had a best friend, lover and nemesis all at the same time! Her first words to me as she started a conversation... "You and I are not going to get along." WTF! A week later she accuses me of being homosexual because I didn't follow her around like a little puppy. So I got interested and she tossed me away. I found said attentions elsewhere and she was upset. So we were just buddies for a time, then roommates, then she somehow extorted me into a relationship. Not a bad thing as it was a uniquely fun time in my life while it lasted. We drove each other mad, broke up, became friends again. Still friends and now she tells her prospective boyfriends that I have to approve of them! Too funny. And my other friend is her ex-husband. His new fiancee is another one of my ex'es. It's a freaking bizarre little soap opera going on right in my own little corner of the world.

So ya, internet girls rock! With tops or without...

Edit: PS. I have not idea why I'm sharing this. I think it came to mind because internet girl and I are having coffee later. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

madpeople wrote:QUOTE (madpeople @ Mar 9 2007, 10:16 AM) cant do that.

we had a candidate running for something in the student union get kicked out because of racist / sexist policys..

they included

getting a mens officer (there is already a womens officer, men should have one too)
getting a straights officer (there is a homosexual's officer, we should have one too)
getting a whites officer (there is one for foreigners so...)

that's equal rights for you
they want all the extra things, but don't want to give up what they have that we don't
As your stereotypical campus liberal, allow me to submit the left-wing reasoning here.

The purpose of minority offices and agencies (such as a women's officer, LGBT student organization, etc.) is to address unique problems that minorities may face within certain institutions. Establishing a specific agency to address the unique needs of straight white males is incoherent in that it presupposes that (1) Straight White Males are minorities that require special protection, and (2) Straight White Males face institutional obstacles and discrimination. The former notion is silly, the latter is offensive to some sensibilities and probably what got your student candidate roasted for being a bigot.

In fact, there is a degree of disdain among more radical left-wingers and minority activists for these agencies (or at least some specific incarnations of them), because of the paternalism and condescension implicit in them. Mainline feminist theory, for example, disdains chivalric privileges accorded to women as evidence of chauvinism; it's "Benevolent Sexism" in theory-speak.

Disclosure: Straight White Male? I am two of the three.

What about those schools that have straight white males in the minority? We are still barred from creating a club/group/platform running under that type of banner. It is believed to be racial in nature. Yes it's racial, just like all advancemt for the black people in the school.
