Sound is premium stuff, really awesome, as well as the gfx but they really need to work on the controls and the accessibility.
geez it's way too hard or may be I'm just rusty with space flight & combat
I've tried with KB&M and also with a game controller (XBox 360 wireless controller).
That level of difficulty could repel a lot of people. They need an assisted/beginner mode, at least.
I didn't even find a way to activate the mouse cursor (a toggle like Alleg has) to use the UI. It's all key/button navigation in menu and such.
Is the social stuff working ? any Alleg group in there ? my nick is 'Kirth Gersen' if anyone is around.
(and yes i'm too lazy to read the Elite forums and wikis and whatever. In 2014, I expect from an AAA game to provide detailed information, tutorials and help from within the game).
I have an Oculus Rift but it didn't detect it so I guess 'some reading/googling' are needed ... sigh.
edit: found the VR settings. it's quite impressive and I experimented 'no VR sickness' unlike some other VR demos and games I tested.
The pilot arms and the inside of cockpit is all eye-candy stuff but work quite well.
One nice thing: Turning the head toward the left or right of the cockpit activates the corresponding UI panel. pretty neat.
