- list of scan ranges for all ships/drones, including faction GAs.
I knew it HAD to be wrong. Dregklar miner/con/base scanranges are NOT nerfed. Hows that? For example their miners have a basic scanrange of 2666, which with the faction modifier goes down to the default 2400. carriers/tower/caltrop layers are nerfed

EDIT: cant change it, its view only. Well, I told you (its probably one of the most unknown things in alleg), now its up to you :)

I'll fix it as soon as I have time to start ICE. I've got some assignments due soon, might be a few days. Thanks for the heads up. I'll check the rest of the Dreg ships too when I have time.

So I decided to try using my external drive as a scratch disk, and my render times dropped incredibly from approximately 15 minutes per minute of footage to 10-15s per minute of footage. I don't know why its so much faster all of a sudden, but it is.

edit: Oh, and I'm done recording and editing about half of the video for the sig/scan/cloak video
https://docs.google.com/document/edit?i ... y=CMH3qNUO

I'll need a partner to build a base somewhere so I can demonstrate the practical effect (when I'm eyed as I approach the base).

The rest of the raw footage (stuff I can do alone, without a partner) has been recorded, I haven't gotten around to editing the SF/cloak/energy stuff yet.

I also need someone to volunteer to narrate the sig/scan/cloak explanation video.

Also, a note to whoever is narrating these:

I can change the timing/length/splice in extra footage/cut stuff out if what I have doesn't fit your narration. Just need to tell me what to fill/cut where.

LANS wrote:QUOTE (LANS @ Oct 4 2010, 10:30 PM) Question: Do you think that a video on how to orbit a miner in an int while on miner O (thus making yourself a more difficult target for the enemy to kill) would be useful?

that would be amazing... the whole boosting in circles while still managing to aim at your target thing is something that is so important, and something that I suck at.

Hmm. Well, I'm not really sure how to film/explain this one. Boost-orbiting a miner at 250-300m range while the miner is running away from you (in a straight line) isn't too hard, but aiming just takes practice. I guess the biggest thing to point out is that quite often you will actually need to aim behind the miner as you boost alongside it, as you'll be going faster than it. Fwiffo (or any other good player with fraps) could probably do this video better than I can.

I know how to film this from first-person view, but I don't know if that's the best way of doing it. Perhaps I should film it from a camera-scout chasing the miner from 1k or so while an int demonstrates? That way you see how the int moves, not just the first-person view of the int orbiting and aiming. I'll need a good intwhore to help me film this. Send me a PM or post below and we can arrange a time to film it.

Current AFS video project tasks:

1) Add SaiSoma's narration to the con-nan video (whenever he sends it to me)
2) film the rest of the sig/scan explanation video
3) edit/narrate the sig/scan explanation video
4) film the boost-orbit video
5) film the "how to ram a friendly bomber" series
6) film the "how to open-air prox an enemy bomber" - I need someone to explain how to do this, I suck at it
7) Go through parts of Juckto's "You suck at alleg" - specifically the ones regarding missile behavour, overboosting/not overboosting, forming up instead of boosting into a nan train one at a time, proper use of rix combat drones, actual bullet range (not just the crosshairs)
8) anything else people suggest

I've changed it to read and edit, as I keep getting told I've screwed up various parts by different people. Go have a read through and fix whatever is needed please.
