Quantity != Quality

Quality > Quantity

Quality = Respect

Quantity = Ignore

One of my favorite (and hardest professors) made every paper 1 page, 1 side; even his final. His theory was, if you couldn't earn your A in 1 page, you couldn't do it in 5.

Jersey, I have a series of steps that I want you to go through when you come up with one of your grand ideas:

1) do a forum search on it, see if there are similar topics/ someone already posted your idea
2) figure out if it is a CORE or CODE change, if it is a latter, discard your idea because its probably not happening
3) check the various cores to see if your idea is already being used by one
4) consider carefully the effect of said change
5) post 1 idea at a time, well thought out, with helpful information

General notes:
please develop an understanding of the game, its engine, how it balances, how its played and been played over the years, as well as a basic understanding of core design/ development and allegiance source code. and please, finish cadet

Well, I suppose the main problem is my initial choice of the forum... I was looking for anything "suggestion-like" and this was the first one I came across... At least, I apologise for this, because now I can see this forum is meant only for serious suggestions, not for those "spammed-for-fun" of mine...

Since this idea-spamming seems to be hard-coded to my brain somehow, I'll move this thread someplace else and I shall post here only seriously meant suggestions, that underwent serious thinking and discussion with other players.

This idea came from the thread that was supposed to replace this one, but is now useless.
Weylin wrote:QUOTE (Weylin @ Nov 5 2009, 10:55 PM) What about "Invasion"
Your team fights off waves of drone enemys (With hopefully better AI than they currently have)
The enemy units could either spawn in random locations at the far edges of the map, or from one or more exit only alephs (They can come out of it, but you can't go in)

Each wave would be progressively harder, first maybe just scouts, fighters, ints, gunships, capital ships... even a mixture of ships.

At the end of each wave, the refit base would allow for docking, but at the beginning of the wave, after having a minute to repair and change your loadout, all docked ships would launch, and no one would be able to land during the wave.
Anyone who is podded or killed will have to wait till the next wave.

A variation on this could be a garrison defense invasion, the enemy will send in waves, you can land at the garrison at any time, and will be able to launch after being podded or killed, but if the garrison dies, you lose.

Jersy you have some refreshing ideas, keep it up. But also take MrC's advice:

Just a touch of formatting, a coherent logic train, and less pie in the sky ideas would go a long way.

I noticed that in cockpit view with the grid and cursor mode on, you can use right mouse button to do the same thing in F3 view, that is used to set a waypiont above or below the grid (erect a perpendicular to the grid), but unlike in F3 view, it does nothing - but since it can be done, I would suggest to enable it's use for setting waypoints in the cockpit view.

Why would you ever fire a missile while in cursor mode?

Directional armor (Faction-specific feature)

- Hull would be stronger on some sides of the ship, but weaker on the others. Example: Heavy armored in the front, lightly armored in the back. In my opinion, it would be quite good way to differentiate some new faction from the others.

We've pretty much got that already, with many craft presenting a bigger target from certain directions due to their shape.

That is true in the fact, that this would also result in skilled pilots attacking from the most convinient sides - the difference is, that the designer of a new faction might like to design his ship in whatever shape he might like, but still make his ships more vulnerable from some directions, but less vulnerable from other ones.

Also, another difference is that you cannot make the ship bigger from the front, and smaller from behind - the profile would still be the same from both sides.
